I just got back from my local Wally World and they have Pennzoil Marine Premium Plus 2-cycle oil on clearance for $3.50 a quart. It's a synthetic blend. Has anyone used this before and how did it work out for you? TIA
is it just me or the worst oil products ever made had the Penzoil or Quaker state sticker on it ? (include valvoline if you want)
After using the penzoil crap in a truck engine, it started drinking it's own oil like crazy. I went back to castrol and after 2 oil changes, it went back to normal.
so I don't know and I won't know.
Since this is 2 stroke oil, I'm hoping that my Lawnboys will drink it like crazy.:drunkie:After using the penzoil crap in a truck engine, it started drinking it's own oil like crazy. I went back to castrol and after 2 oil changes, it went back to normal.
But do you get complete combustion with it at 32:1 and does it leave any carbon deposits in your exhaust ports?I never used anything but Pennzoil in my vehicles and have never had a problem. Had a 92 blazer that had 260,000 on it when traded in and never used oil, currently have a 98 blazer with 197,000 and an 04 trailblazer with 70,000 and oil consumption is almost nil.
I'm not asking about automotive oil. The post is about 2 STROKE oil for use in my Lawnboy mower and if anyone has experience with it in 2 stroke LAWNMOWERS.Full synthetic is one thing, but synthetic blend means absolutely nothing legally.
All automotive oil contains some synthetic additives, and there is no minimum amount to be considered a synthetic blend.
So ALL oil you buy is a synthetic blend.
Now if it says FULL synthetic, you may have something else.
Most Lawnboy engines are marine based engines developed by a marine engine company. Lawnboy specifies TC-W3 (marine) oils for their 2 strokers. It's my understanding that 2 stroke marine oil isn't the oil you should use with an air cooled 2 stroke. Marine oil additives are different then air cooled because they have water pumped into the engine to keep them cool. Yes it will work but your engine won't last as long.

Thanks Croc. I needed a regular to step in here. I have used some synthetics already but no Pennszoil. I don't want to buy a few quarts and find out it leaves too much carbon and I won't be able to test enough myself in the wintertime before it's all sold. Heck, maybe it won't sell and they'll drop the price some more.Considering ODF is talking about 2-stroke oil, I believe 4-stroke car engine oil info won't do him much good. ODF, I have used pennzoil before with no problems. I have ran synthetic before, and it leaves the motor cleaner and doesn't smoke as much in my opinion. I do like the smell of lawnboy oil so I havent used synthetics that much though.
No...it's a tractor forum, we just let you lawn mower guys hang out with us.......:sidelaugh :sidelaugh :sidelaughHEY EVERYONE, THIS IS THE LAWNMOWER FORUM!
.
OMC (Outboard Marine Corp) made almost all of the Lawnboy 2 stroke engines and they were heavily based on OMC's marine technology. If you look in any Lawnboy owners manual, you will see that they say if you don't run Lawnboy oil, you are instructed to run a TC-W3 (which is a marine grade) oil. You will be hard pressed to find an air cooled oil with a TC-W3 rating. That's odd, I'll have to do a little research on the subject. I had both a marine 2 strokers and many air cooled 2 strokes and they required different 2 stoke oil for the reason I stated (water in the marine engine). I'll let you know unles someone else can clear this up.

Para Synthetic or synthetic blends contain petroleum. Strait synthetics don't from my understanding.Orangedot, apparently you misunderstood my point, which apparently wasn't clear.
I was trying to point out that synthetic blend was different than full synthetic. This applies whether we are talking automotive, lawnboy, or baby oil.
I know this is a Lawnmower forum, but will forgive your post about MARINE oil just this once.
