Hi folks well today I went and looked at a # 80 dump cart. Well to my surprise there worth there weight in gold I guess. I made an offer at 100 bucks. Well I was shot down. He wants 300 because that's what our local JD dealer told him it's worth, well I should say 300 to 1000 bucks is what they told him. So I'm pretty bummed out. So if any of you in the NY area has one you would be willing to part with or know where one is let me know please. And what is the real going rate on one these days any way? Any info will help so when I go look at another one I were I won't have to brake the bank to get it.

Depending on there condition they go from $300 to $450. I've never seen one for a grand however. You do see them for less occasionally but not often.

Oh ok well this one was decent shape but it was missing the brass tag. An gate was a little mangled. Paint was original

With the bad tail gate. I would think $250 to $300. It may not be a brass tag cart. There was brass, aluminum and foil depending on the year.

For over $300 around here it should be complete with minimal rust or a restore. A lot of times the tail gates are trashed by contact with the ground behind someone's garage for 30 years. Then again, if you pay attention and get lucky you can find them for more reasonable prices. I won't even tell you what I paid for the two I have.

Yea not going to mention how much mine was either lol

A rough one at an auction I attended went for near 300 and it was an aluminum tag. Here is a patio near me for what I would say is dreamer money but... that may be cheap a few years from now.

:dunno: Maybe I'm :drunkie: but that isn't completely outrageous compared to the suggested 1K of a green cart in post #1. I didn't pay $400 for my '68 brass tag though.

Wow well he thinks it's a 1966. An every thing was in working an it was stored inside. But without that tag it's not worth much in my opinion. One friend paid 100 for an almost restored one.

I wonder what that guy is smoking to ask that for that price?

An older model 80 cart was recently for sale near me for $125 with a crappy repaint and what looked to be newer tires. But usually they sell for about $300-$400.

What color was the undercarriage? If it was a 1966, it would be green, not black. It would also have a brass tag to prove it! And the serial number would be fairly low.

But these guys are right. Typical price is $300-450, sometimes much higher if it's an early brass tag in good condition. Sometimes you can find them cheaper when they are either beat-up/rusted out, or the person selling doesn't know what they have. As a generla rule, the aluminum and foil tag examples don't command as high a price as the olde rbrass tags (assuming comparable condition).

But any 80 Cart in decent condition is a great find. They are very nice heavy duty carts!

You know, that gets lost a lot in translation, many of us are so interested in their rarity and collectible value, that we forget that they are truly great, heavy duty working carts. I once posted a pic of one of my Model 80's loaded up with mulch. I got amazed comments, stunned that I actually used the cart to do real work. I thought that was kind of funny, but many are now "parade only" I guess.

Yeah, they are definitely solid tools to have in the inventory. :thThumbsU

By its low serial number, mine is probably from the first year they were made (1964). I certainly use it!
