soil matters. i have 90% sand loam here. mt GT6000 with me weighs in at about 900. no marks unless it is wet.

my 318 with me is about 1300, no marks unless it is wet or i skid the tires.

now if i had skinny tires...that wold be a different story.

I got top soil and clay. When its wet and slow to drain it will leave marks no matter what you got.As it starts to dry out I'll pull the roller behind as I mow. Then later when it dries more I'll pull the aerator to open it back up.I got HDAP's on order for all four wheels.Hope to have them mounted next month.

the few times i have left ruts i just hop on the tractor and drive next to the ruts to blend them in. more seat time like that!

The JD salesman said "your choice" on tires when I bought the X500. I mow about an acre and a half, and have another couple acres with lots of trees, trails, hills etc. My previous Deere's had turf tires, but I wanted to do more playing in the dirt and plow snow, so I went with HDAPs.

Bottom line - I usually mow when dry, so non-issue. If I have to run it over wet ground, yep it'll leave some depressions. Over time, those mostly go away on their own. I've had an absolute ball with the X500, due mainly to the HDAPs and the locking differential.

In my circumstances, I'd be swapping tires every month or so... And these larger lots only require us to keep the grass green - no insane perfection that was mandated when we lived in HOA-controlled neighborhoods.

If you only would swap tires/wheels twice a year by season - go for it. Sounds like a cool solution - cost notwithstanding. Also you'll need to store all the spares.

good point about spares....in my yard there is a plethora of tire unfriendly plants!
have had many many flats!
