Smart Man. I usually dont give any throttle before engaging. I'm sure sometimes I engage at 1/4 or even 1/2 throttle.

160 hours on my DGS6500, running like a champ.
Make sure you throttle up before you hit the grass.

I did. Out the door for under 2600. I like it. ?How much throttle do you all give before engaging PTO.
GOOD BUY GUY:fing32::fing32::fing32::fing32:

i paid that for my GT6000 in 2011 and you got MORE machine by a margin. on mine its not recommended to engage blades at less than half throttle. less than half is a good way to toss/waste belts. i suppose it could also lessen the possibility of "detonation" in the engine...which would NOT be covered by warranty. BUT just go by what the manual says.

I went to my Kubota Dealer today for an Oil Filter (For my T1670) @ $9.50. Tractor Supply wants $12.75.

Man, even the BX2360/70 are impressive with 4X4, Cat. 1 3-pt., Loader capable, 1/2" steel frame and 3 cyl. in-line diesels.
But starting @ $10+ Grand for just the tractor makes my head spin.

I have to remind myself, and I do believe, that I got a heck of a deal on the CTX I bought last August

yea i know what you mean. the JD318 i recently bought for $1600 costs 9500$ back in 1986! YIKES!

the sears in to OP post is a real bargain by comparison. :eek:mg:

the price of my JD today is like $18,000 DANG! aint that something? and to top it off its (sears) a Simp built machine? how can anyone go wrong for this $$$:goodl:

wish i had some extra dough around i'd buy one in a heartbeat!

Our old Kubota B5200 blew through quite a few belts when throttled up for PTO (as the manual and salesguy first demonstrated/advised) - Switching to the 1/4 throttle route remedied that issue.

Just a quick update for those interested. After first sending out the wrong part, Sears sent me two reverse overide keys that were not available when I purchased it. The cut is very clean and the traction control works great on my slope. Starts easily, runs smooth and steering is very easy. It seems I will be fighting my wife on the mowing chores, -at least for a little while anyway. We pulled around an aerator the other weekend with no hesitation. I found out quick, that an electrical connection needs unclipped BEFORE you take the deck off. - fixed that up in a snap. Black looks good but is a real dust magnet. The spring assist deck lift seems to have failed and I may have it repaired under warrently; not critical at this point as the electric lift works and my setting is high; seems like this system may be a design issue. Overall, very happy with the machine so far. Looking to get some wheel weights for added stability and a mulch kit in the near future.

The LEgacy XL is on par with the old Deere 425 series and the SCUT series, the high end Cubs from Yanmar, etc...you will be hard pressed to find a Loader/Backhoe capable tractor with a 5 foot deck, with a diesel or L/C engine, for under 12K these days...simply because, they are worth it.

I paid 8500 for my 425 Deere, and another 1500 for the 54" deck...back in like 1999...and it served faithfully until I sold it a few years later. The Simp Conquest and PRestige are fine machines, however, the sears rebadged mowers, are not as well optioned in alot of cases, like 2wd, no power steering, manual deck lift, etc...

Also, Husqvarna AB lost the contract for the LT line, now MTD is producing them....look for models like LT1500...Husqvarna is slowly pulling away from Sears, Sears is gradually falling apart, and this recent turn of events...pulling away from Simplicity, and Husqvarna, making deals with MTD...is only a sign of bad things to come.
