New problem: Went to finish mowing the lawn the other day, and had the deck belt slip off the mule drive and engine pulley several times. What gives? It was fine for quite a while, now it won't stay on. I tried to tension the mule drive, but that didn't help. Was told to try and replace the belt with a new gates belt, will this help??

Thanks,
Doug

Just took the engine off - likely going to rebuild it, as I think the rings have wore. Smoke came from exhaust half the time, and it was blue. Made a stack the other day, as the circular muffler blew its end off (sounded like a straight pipe). Anyway, the stack sounds nice and is quiet with a deep tone.

Ok. That one needs an explanation. Those are rusty tire chains that I picked up after they fell on the grass. Some of the grass was still stuck in them, so it kinda looks like I'm carrying around a chunk of sod. lol

nice pics, that thing is coming right along!

Nice, it will make a great looking tractor.:thThumbsU:thThumbsU

Best part is, I've got a plow that I've been working on fixing. Grandfather made it years ago for the colt I am restoring, used angle Iron, a hot water heater tank, and a lot of ingenuity.

Here's a before picture of the plow:

The plow skin is off, was too thin and was dented and rusted through. Should have it fixed by this coming winter.

That will look nice when it's done! Good luck!

Question:

Does this wiring diagram seem like it will work? The wiring on the SS12 is modified by the PO and has an automotive ignition switch that shuts off power to the coil, doesn't ground out a magneto. I plan on installing an SPDT Relay to fix this - when the ignition terminal is on, it will activate the relay and open the contact that grounds the magneto out. When the ignition switch is off, IGN will have no power, and the relay will shut off, therefore grounding out the magneto.

If this doesn't make sense, let me know. Here is the link to the starter switch that is in it:

Same here. The PO took it out to put in the universal ignition switch, and put a toggle switch where the original ignition switch was. The toggle switch grounded out the magneto to shut off the tractor. Since this tractor isn't quite original, I'm not worried about changine the wiring/dash around.

Hopefully the relay will work as planned, can't try it out until I order a rebuild kit for the engine and install it. Will take pictures when that happens.
