I have a freshly restored Ford 8N for sale. Rebuilt carburetor, distributor, and governor. New axle seals, fresh fluids. New paint. Engine runs great with plenty of power, 4 speed transmission shifts like new. Hydraulics work great with tons of lifting power. PTO works as it should. New gauges. Original head lights work. 6V electrical system that starts first time, every time with working generator. Can add a Sherman 2 speed auxiliary transmission if the buyer would like. Can also make a package deal with a 5' Ford brush hog, 6' ARPS blade, and a 12" post hole digger. Tractor: $2650, call with what you want in a package deal or to add the Sherman.

Tractor located in Wellington, Ohio (30 mi SW of Cleveland). Delivery is available. Call Mike with any questions 44O-61O-55O9

Thanks for the kind words Kirk! The rears are 12.4-28 Wards riverside brand.

Hey Mcvetta, didn't you buy a hood, bruch hog, and grader blade from me? Your father, at least i think maybe it was your dad, finaly ended up buying the 8n in the back of the property. Nice 8n by the way, Mike.

That would be me! None of the hood pieces made it on this one, but I'm sure I'll find a tractor that needs it.

You must be talking about my buddy Joe. I believe he's on this forum now and again. We both putz around with these old Fords. My dad was the other gentlemen that was with me when I stopped the first time to look at everything you had for sale.

If you ever need any help with yours let me know, I've redone about a dozen over the past 2 years. They're really good machines for their age and size. About the only thing easier I've worked on is the Ferguson TO series tractors.

Did you ever get your carb fixed up?

Ha no Joe told me the carburetor linkage was bad, so i am going to buy a new one and try that. I like the 8n's a lot myself. For there size, you cannot beat them. Nice to see you on the forum, Mike.

That tractor is exactly, and I mean exactly like the one I grew up riding on of my uncles as a kid in the early 70's. His was a '46 model that he purchased using his military separation money after he got home from the Phillipines at the end of WWII. His was also dove grey with a red engine/transmission and the grey rims. His had the headlights too, as well as a rear fender mounted toolbox...Which served as my "seat" many a day while he worked around the farm. Of course, his didn't look anywhere near as beautiful as yours...
Yours is absolutely gorgeous! I wouldn't think you'll have any trouble selling it for just $2650.. I'm sure it would cost that much, if not more, to restore one to that level.
I wish I had the money.. I'd buy it in a heartbeat.

Sorry Leftyizme, a '46 model is not exactly the same as the '48 8N..Totally different machines..

Well, I am no expert Ford 8N historian... but it "looks" just like my late uncles tractor.
So, I went to a Ford 9N,2N,and 8N site and looked them up.
My uncles had to have been an early '47 model instead of a '46. The 2N had 3 spd transmissions, and were all grey. The '47 was the first year of the 8N and came in the above color scheme. My uncles had a 4spd.
The 2N had a front mounted distributer, as did the 9N.. The 8N had the distributer on the side of the engine.. so did my uncles.
Maybe he had to wait for his separation pay and by then the '47 models were out.....

Well...

Close.

The first 8Ns DID come out in (late) 1947, however... they were for model year 1948 (hence the '8' in 8N).
ALL 8Ns had a 4 speed transmission... but NOT all 8Ns had a side-mount distributor. 1948, '49 and the first half (or so) of 1950, 8Ns had front-mount distributors, just like the earlier 9Ns and 2Ns did.
