I leave it run, especially if The Wife is around and I don't wanna hear her jibber jabberin'.

Clint in KY , if I'll be off the Tractor for 10-15 min. , I'll leave it idle , (but at a higher RPM idle) , after that I'll shut it down , if I'm working the Tractor , I'll let it cool down for 2-3 min. before I shut it down ...

I took my grandson to a hay ride at a farm stand today. Guess what they do with their real commercial tractor, that runs for 1000s of hours a year working 12 hour days out in a field. That simply let it low idle all day long between rides. They are not turning it on and off, wearing out the starting equipment, and they are not getting failures with pumps or injectors. Now I think they know more about tractors then most home owners know about them?

i would lean to the cutting it off if you are doing work for yourself, leave it running if your doing work for a job, less wear and tear on the starter, unless you are going to be off it over 15mins

as for OTR trucks i never cut mine off unless i HAD too or i got home when its your "house" you want it to be cool when you get in it in the summer and warm in the winter, same reason RV'ers do not cut off their gen sets till they arrive to the campground, so compairing a tractor to a OTR truck or what not is apples and oranges, now if you go a big tractor with HVAC leave it running :trink40:

just my 2 cents in this story, its your stuff you do what you want too and what makes you feel good :thThumbsU

I do both (long time no post) haha GOT SOMETHING NEW FOR YA GUYS

any ways i do both. winter i leave it run just to keep the temps up summer shut it down
