Hi all, I just joined the forum and thought I'd introduce myself in the green area of the forum. I posted a couple of pictures in the intro section, but here's another one of the mower with the new tires I put on it this summer.

The tractor is a work horse. I do have a history, though, of doing things above and beyond what some equipment was intended to do. The LX hasn't minded. It doesn't know it isn't a bigger tractor, so Shhhh, let's not tell it.

The hood is cracked to heck, and the headlights were busted out so I replaced with fogs from wal-mart.

The engine is spectacular ONCE I GET IT RUNNING. that's probably the main reason I joined.

The problem is that I can't start in choke, I can only start in very low idle. If I try to throw it out of low idle right away it will die. If I VERY slowly raise the engine speed it will usually be ok. Sometimes jI can just walk away for a few minutes and let it run in that very low idle, then come back to it and rev it right up.

Once it's warmed up I can shut it off and turn it on without a problem. Engine runs great once I get it started. It has never "not started."

Had fuel lines and filter replaced right before I got ahold of it.

Where do i go next. Is this a float issue? some other carb setting issue?

Here's another picture. This one is a load of hickory that well exceeded the 1000lb rating of the trailer (I'd guess close to 1500lbs). I don't do this every day with the LX188, but it's doing that sort of thing that will likely kill the hydro on it. I really need to get me something a little bigger...

Thanks for the welcomes!

Seafoam is SOP for all my engines, so that one is DONE. For kicks I even bought Marvel Mystery additive or whatever it's called. That didn't seem to do a thing for me.

All of my chainsaws run mix that has some seafoam in it, and every once in a while I add some to my car engines. I've never noticed a difference in my auto engines, but I do tend to have fewer fuel related issues with the 2cycle engines I run.

I really am thinking this is a float issue, too. I haven't even messed with the carb, so I suppose that will have to be added to the list of things to do this winter. The rider isn't used for snow removal (yet) so that's doable, i suppose.
