Hello fellow tractor enthusiasts. I have a 1991 lgt-16d with a busted front ball joint, part#-SBA447800040, and I can't find them in stock anywhere. I'm hoping one of you can point me toward a generic replacement before I get my fabricator involved.

Hi, and welcome to MTF!

Unfortunately, from googling that part number, it appears to be no longer available new. If you can't find one in a salvage yard, you might try removing the old one and going to an auto parts store to see if you can find a match.

Have you tried McMaster Carr? I believe they carry a line of these ball joints in many sizes.
Here is a link to their page:

Very little luck so far. I did find a possible replacement for one side M14x1.5 female shank with M12x1.25 ball stud. right hand thread from unisteer. But for the Right Hand side it is left hand thread. The only replacement parts i've found are M14x1.5 thread on the Shank and stud, these are on ebay as SQL14-RS or on 123bearings.
I'm now looking into having a new tie rod made with m12x.1.25 on each end so I can just buy the readily available SQ(L)12-RS. I'll update you all once I complete it.

So the fix for me was purchasing a kubota tie rod "Complete Tractor 1904-0109 Tie Rod" from amazon and shortening it by removing 3.25inches from the middle and welding it back together.
I bought these tie rod ends "Ball Joint 12mm Clockwise and Counter-clockwise Tie Rod Ends for Crossfire 150 Baja DN150 Sunl Roketa Dazon Go Kart" from amazon as well

End Result. Works like it should.

Thanks for taking time to post your solution. I always appreciate it when people do that. Nothing more frustrating finding a thread discussing an issue you're researching (wow, same problem!), and then the thread is left hanging.

And nice job on the solution, too. (y)
