Question about LB Duraforce SilverPro 6.5 hp

I will be acquiring a Lawn Boy DuraForce Silver Pro 6.5 for $20.00 (not running) soon that will be my daily mower.

I was just wondering how many models of the silver editions did they make, and also I was considering at some point after I get it running, buying the Aluminum deck for it. Would it be worth doing that?

There are a couple of models and they were made for a lot of years. Roughly 1997 to 2004 from memory. Both push and self propelled for example. Biggest problems is the electronic ignition coils go bad and the carburetors generally need to be reworked. Biggest problem from owners is not putting oil in the gas. I wouldn't bother changing to an aluminum deck. If you want aluminum just buy a complete mower. My Silver Series is a 1999 model 10323. Picked it up sitting at the curb for garbage pick up with a bad coil. Roger

Bought the Lawnboy DuraForce today. It is model# 10252 1999 model with big rear wheels, so changing to aluminum deck probably would not work anyways. Right now I have to get it running. The pull cord will not retract so have to fix that issue first. Will post pictures later on after I am done with my nap. I might pick up another lawnboy later on model# L21ZPNB that is not in to bad of shape.

After tearing it down, it seems the recoil spring has broken which NOW means I have to buy that whole shroud assembly, because it is ALL ONE PIECE that will cost me close to $100.00 after tax. That is ludicrous to make that all one piece, then again does not surprise me coming from Toro. Or perhaps I can find one on Ebay that comes in pieces? Here are a few photos. She is in pretty rough shape right now, but looks like mostly cosmetic/rust. Also the brake control cable was froze which is why the original own departed from it, but I dropped alot of 3 in 1 oil inside, and managed to free it up, so that saved me $40.00 right there. Is a Bosch spark plug ok to use on these engine? That is what is on it that is almost new.

EDIT: After searching around for the broken recoil spring, I found an old post on this forum through google that explains a work around, and MUCH MUCH cheaper. Link to Ebay recoil spring assembly.

That's why I love this forum. So much information here for the sharing. That recoil can be riveted on or use small bolts with locking nuts. Your on the right track. Bill

Greetings! As far as actual DuraForce models, there were 7, and they are as follows.

10247-Push Low rear wheel 1998-2003
10247C Same as 10247, don't know what the C is 2001-2003
10250-Same as 10247 1998 only
10252-Push High rear wheel 1999-2002
10323-Self Propelled rear wheel drive 1998-2004
10324-From what I know, same as 10323 1998-2004
10324C-Same as 10324, don't know about the C 2002-2004

As for converting it to a GoldPro (Aluminum Deck), I don't know if it would even work. I think I remember reading that you would need a mounting plate for an aluminum deck, but I could be wrong (very good chance that I could be wrong!). The 10252s are actually very hard to come by. I would hold onto it and use it as is. Hope this is what you were looking for!

Planning to use bolts with locking nuts just in case, and yes this forum is awesome.

Good info there LawnToro. I am in the process of a full resto, and keeping the steel deck. Removed the engine yesterday to clean up the deck, and removing any loose paint, and disassembled the carburetor, and cleaned it all up, but it is missing the filter/screen over the main jet so one more thing I have to order. Today I will be removing parts from the engine to do a good cleaning on the engine grant it does not rain. I think I want to get it running before repairing/repainting the deck. So far all I need to get it running/usable is the recoil assembly, screen/filter, and a new blade. I am getting the atomic mulching blade. Cost more, but worth it. My Toro 20332 has one that I will be selling once I get the 10252 going.

Something worth noting. This model, and serial number making it a 1999 model officially makes it the last lawn boy of the 20th Century :tango_face_wink:

Very True! I would check the coil as well. They are notorious for failing. You can usually find them for fairly cheap ($10-$30 on Ebay). Let me know if you hit a snag. I own two SilverPro, and used to own a GoldPro, so I may be able to help you.

Started working on fixing my 10252. Made a short video of work done to the deck. At this time I am not planning to make it 100% showroom quality. I just need a working mower.

Lawn Boy Duraforce 6.5 Silver Pro 10247 need oil?

The 10247 Duraforce is a 2 stroke mower. Oil is mixed with the gas at ratio of 32:1. Bill
