Got at it early today. Tore into the dash to figure out the slop in the steering wheel tilt. Turns out, it was nothing more than tightening the shoulder bolts the tilt pivot hinges on . Not sure why they were loose? They had nylon lock nuts. Cleaned things up, while I was in there.

Found every zerk fitting, did all the filters, pretty much a complete service. Ran it for an hour mowing. Even with last years gas still in it, it did great. All the belts and other parts came this afternoon. I ordered a nice used PTO switch on Ebay, and new brake/cruise and deck lift levers, to replace the faded ones. For under $50, to get rid of the fade? I think it looks alot better.

There was one more thing that came about 5pm. I think it'll come in handy. Getting too old to carry everything.

Other than finishing up wet sanding and buffing out the white LTX hood, putting the XT3 decals on, and maybe some new mower deck blades. This is about done! I would have never thought I would have such a nice mower a few weeks ago!

It looks awesome, nice updates! I'm glad the steering was something simple. The cart looks good! That should be awfully handy.

Now I just have to figure out what to do with the GTX 2100. Last night, the wife said if we keep it, we can have "His & Hers" mowers? Of course, when she said His, she pointed to the GTX. And "Hers", she pointed to the XT3! Things could be alot worse, I guess! Both are pretty nice!

Time to clean the GTX up nicer than the XT3 (y)

Try to convince her that, uhhhh, the differential lock is a TERRIBLE feature, and you wouldn't want her to have to deal with that. Instead, you will chivalrously put up with using the XT3, and make the tremendous sacrifice.

But in reality, of course, both machines sound great to me!

Those carts are handy! I have an old metal Agri-Fab out back had for many years--use it all the time. I did beef up the axle with a larger size and put better wheels/ tires off a jet-ski trailer my Son was getting rid of. Haul and dump--it does it all--otherwise it sits under cover at the rear carport.(y)(y) No cost!

Other than testing the diff/lock, occasionally. I really don't use it on my XT3 GSX. It just nice to know it's there if I ever do need it (y)

Having the GTX 2100 and XT3 GSX sitting side by side in the garage, there are only a few differences. The XT3 has the differential lock, the big tube grille protector, a 25hp motor compared to a 23hp in the GTX, and a better heat shield around the muffler. That helps keep the plastic hood from melting!

Everything else is the same, and all other parts are interchangeable. Both, well built tractors!

Even if it wasn't being used for pulling a difficult implement, the diff lock sounds nice as a "Help, I'm stuck!" feature.

I got my lawn tractor stuck one time, at the edge of the retaining wall down to the driveway. I could not budge it by hand, a neighbor came over and helped me move it. But at roughly twice the weight, if this tractor got stuck the same way, I could really be in a pickle! Thankfully it hasn't been a problem yet. But it would be nice to have a way to let it do the work of getting itself un-stuck.

grandpas, thanks for the summary comparison of the two!

I have 3 Garden and 1 Compact tractor with diff/lock. At our Current home, I have never had to use the feature. Our Vacation Home if a different story. But most of the time we our out there, I barrow My Neighbor's Simplicity Legacy XL or His JD 5E or 5R Utility Tractors. Only my previous JD X485 and Current JD X748, JD 2025R & Cub SX54 have been brought out there which is about 2.5 hrs west of here. His 4WD Simplicity legacy XL was in 4WD, and I had to use diff/lock on top of that to get unstuck one day after we have torn down the Beaver ***. That title wave of water inundated the area the Tractor was in and turned the dirt on our makeshift Berm into soupy mud, I bet a 2WD with Just diff Lock would have been stuck on that berm But there our also some grass slopes on our 18 acre vacation property where I do use diff/lock on the Legacy XL Because I don't want to Mow In 4WD. Terrible turn radius. The diff/lock really does help you climb those slopes. But My XT3 GSX has never been used off our current home property, which is fairly flat except for one small gradual slope (y)

Just an update. I have put about 8 hours on it, since buying it. With only a .5 acre lot, I have had to come up with other reasons to use it! I have owned a lot of larger equipment over the years. I used to finish mow 20 acres. As far as mowing my small lot, with some what of a steep ditch by the road. I'm loving the XT3 GSX and differential lock. The turning radius is small, and with power steering? The 54" fabricated deck, along with the weight of the tractor, leaves my bumpy front lawn looking even, almost manicured. My only complaint, it has cut my mowing time down by 50%. Just not enough seat time.

Mow a different angle to get that "manicured" look on the lawn, see no problem getting back that extra seat time! 😁

Invest In a 42-inch deck 42" Deck Attachment (Black) - XT3 Garden Tractor - 19B40012100 | Cub Cadet US a Local Cub dealer can find out when the supposed date it is supposed to be available again (y)

I know no one wants to hear it - but you could go slower and enjoy the ride.

I used to be that way. But since I mow twice a week when we are not in drought conditions, I would rather be faster, so that is why I mow with a zero turn. So I can use my tractors for projects and not have to constantly mount or unmount a mowing deck. (y)

I understand, but my lawn is not even close to smooth enough to fly over it on a zero turn. Since I've retired, mowing the lawn has taken on new meaning and not just something I had to do after work. I have a dedicated mowing Cub, a 3208 and with it's suspension seat I can actually enjoy the ride.

My lawn is not smooth either; I wish it was. I was reminded this afternoon that the front yard is Leach Field, and it sunk where all the Leach Field pipes are. The front will finally be a project for next year.

The front end is a lot heavier on the Cub SX series and a standard zero turn, so it does help with the bumps, ruts, and sunk spots, and if I ever get to the point where I can't take it, I'll add this Seat Suspension Kits suspension to the seat. (y)
