Thanks Luke. Off it goes.

I’m in the process of upgrading the X748 w/rear pto and 3PH, THRV, and shimming IRV. I wish some of you guys who are clever mechanics lived nearby!
All of those things are easy! Actually the hardest part of all that is removing the bolt on the left handle to get the seat pan off. [emoji2]

Sad to say but I've had the seat pan off enough times that i'm pretty good at it now! I have a 1/4" drive 10MM with a short extension that seems to work well for me. Then once it is loose enough i switch to a nut driver type of handle with only the socket. If you're careful you can swing the fuel tank support around without having to fully remove it and still get the seat pan off.

Think that's fun? - Add a joystick to the cup holder and then it gets a lot more challenging to get the seat pan off.

Yeah, I ended up removing the left rear wheel just to give more room to maneuver!

I agree it’s not all that difficult. Just a lot of steps need to be taken carefully. Another part of it is my indoors workspace is real tight so I don’t have much elbow room for wrenching. And I typically only have an hour or two to spare for it. I’ll get it done - - it will just take me longer than most.👍

@UrbanTractor That bar looks like it was installed to provide a mount for that light. Why do you want it gone so badly?

Mike, I have to remove the light and the bar because I’m installing a 3PH. It’s in the way and I am pretty sure it will interfere with the toplink at minimum. Even if it doesn’t, I am also pretty sure it will interfere with the rear mounting brackets for the Curtis Cab.

It’s a nice light, wired into the reverse light circuit. My eventual plan is to mount it on the upper rear of the cab for better illumination.👍

John it’s super handy wired up that way. Mine is done like that, it quite convenient.

Pretty sure I have a battery issue. Been acting funny on start up for a while now.

Cleaned the battery posts that didn’t help. Checked chassis ground. Dash lights were blinking then nothing. Battery charger helped get me going. I’ll test battery then probably replace it, better now than when it’s cold. Only two year old Walmart battery. Sad

Hopefully it's not a parasitic draw / short.

Sorry about the hassle. Keep us posted.

The Walmart battery in my 140 is ten years old now and still going (🤞). It’s the only Walmart battery I’ve ever owned, but I can’t complain.

I'd test to see if you are getting charging voltage when it's running. Have you had any fuses blow lately?

No blown fuses. Just a click when solenoid would push out the bendix gear then it would pause, then engage. I watched it yesterday it would push to but not in the flywheel sometimes.
So I sprayed some WD thinking that might help, not really.
So I spayed more and tested it a couple of times then it went to nothing with key turned.
i sat in the seat and noticed the dash lights flickering, so out came the charger. That worked.
I’m glad cus it had me blocked in the shed. I would have had to crawl out the back window to exit.

I've noticed if I don't run the X728 for a while it does the same thing. I just put the charger on the solenoid positive (padding the dipstick so it doesn't ground out) and ground to frame and it charges just fine, and I don't have to take the hood off then.

I found mine did the same thing a few weeks ago, right after I installed a winch. My guess was the winch control drained the battery so I disconnected it. Still had the issue the next time I went to start it. The battery is the original so I’m thinking the full discharge may have damaged the battery. I’ll know fairly soon, more leaves to pick up when it quits raining/snowing.

I too attach the charger to the battery lead at the starter and the motor mount bolt.
