Are you looking to get an engine that you already have rebuilt? Or are you looking to purchase an already rebuilt engine? Also, where are you located?

I do not know if there are any remains left of Ebro's (Motor Iberica) Ford business? Maybe there still are some workshops that sells/rebuilds these engines?

You will have best chanses to find a supplier in the UK.
4000 has the same engine as 4500.
You need to send them your engine.

No, I have not, but it looks promising. Ireland means no customs, so it may be a better option.

If you choose a service where you have to send your engine in exchange, check with the shop what damages they will accept. If you, for instance, have a bad porosity that can not be fixed, they may not accept your engine and you lose your deposit.

Please, come back with your results on this engine hunt.
 
That must be a rebuilt short block, not a new one. They do not make them new any longer as far as I am aware.

That looks about the same as they are going for here in the USA. They are listed for between $2400.00 and $3200.00 US$ with a $1000.00 core charge, so once you return the old block you get $1000.00 back.
 
For now, the best option is new (kramp). New short engine, 1800 euros + VAT (oil pump included) . How dou you see it?
I think that is a good option, but there will be a need for extra parts (See "Accesorios" on the Kramp site), and they do not come cheap. On the other hand, you will not have the costs and trouble that comes with sending your old engine.
Depending on the damages, rebuilding the old engine can also be pricey.

The cylinder head bolt threads in these new blocks are 9/16" - 12 UNC (older engines 1/2" - 13 UNC) in order to fit later head bolts.
The timing cover bolt (stud) kit is needed because the new blocks are threaded 3/8" -16 UNC (older engines 5/16"- 18 UNC), in order to fit cover bolts for later blocks.

I wonder if it is possible to drill the timing cover to fit 3/8" threaded bolts? That way you do not need that kit, only new bolts.
Same thing for the head, it is only a qestion of largening the holes radius by 1/32" inch (~ 0.8 mm).

I looked for bolts. If you find 9/16" bolts, with suitable lengths, I do not think they are cheaper than the stud kit.
Most likely, you better go for that kit.

But the timing cover kit should be avoidable, drill the holes and get some 8.8 (Grade 5) 3/8" - 16 UNC bolts instead.

I do not know what prices Kramp will charge for the bolt/stud "threads adapters" but after a quick search, this seller has prices that, at least, will not throw you off the chair:

They have been doing it for 5+ years...

Several detailers have the engines out of stock. I do not know if it is because Corona, Brexit, production stopped or the demand is high. This would have been perfect for Pablo, since it includes the required kits:

Only Vapormatic can tell what markets they plan to work in. European detailers often sell worldwide, but that means a transatlantic shipping cost for each customer. I suppose that exporting engines to the US in larger scale would call for a Vapormatic detailer in the US, and such things often comes with contracts binding the detailer to sell more products from the manufacturer. I do not know.

Then there is the (to me) mysterious Sparex engine:
Sparex is not known for giving too much information, it would be interesting to know if this is from Vapormatic (a competitor) or if there is another manufacturer.

I think that the best option is to buy the kramp (vapormatic) short engine. Next monday i will buy it. They confirm me that i can receive it in 1-2 days. I hope it fits the 4500 loader......
 
It will fit a 4500, or do you mean fit inside the front end loader frame when you are assemblying it? If the old one gets out, the new one will go in.

To avoid any unpleasant surprises, make sure what model you have. If you have the tractor's model code, serial number, assembly date code and the engine's serial number, you can verify that you will get the proper replacement. Is that already sorted? Do not rely on the sticker, you need the stamped numbers.

Yes, your pictures show that it is a 4500 and that Vapormatic short engine will definitely fit correctly.

Nice collection of machines.
 
It looks like the block is cracked and someone tried to fix it with putty...

The engine serial number seems to start with 5D. If it is an original 4000 engine, it should start with a P or a D. It really does not matter, it is clear that the new engine is the right one. The old one could be a replacement, and those can have all sorts of numbers on them.

Thank you for the pictures. I guess it sounds weird to you, but I have not heard of Barreiros before, sturdy looking tractor. I found a lot of interesting reading about the Chrysler/Dodge connection and the Spanish Darts.

The Jeep was also made in Spain, if I understand things right? Ebro was involved in these. Ebro also built Ford and MF tractors, was the MF65 built in Spain as well?
