Hello, I am looking at a 2004/2005 JD LX280 with low Hours (210h) a 42” deck and bagger- is this worth $1650 from a private party? Condition looks good , but this is a 13-14 year old tractor. I wonder if the value is there or I should continue looking. I may be able to trade this down but will also have to pay someone to haul it for me (~20 miles) since I don’t have a trailer or truck, so I don’t think the bet price may go below $1650.

My thought too. I find they many of the better tractors for sale (especially Deere) at CL seem overpriced. Of course one can negotiate, but given the hassle to drive 20 miles back and forth, then check out the machine and either don’t like the seller or the hardware (I always make a judgment on the seller as well, since. CL is so much hit and miss and some participants are shady) and the difficulty for me to haul this, I think I just bite the bullet and buy new, unless I get really lucky.

Good X300's are $1600 t0 $1900 usually with bagger, if you have a level yard. Then a X310 or X320 for a couple of hundred more for the better tranny.:tango_face_wink:

Probably $1250 is about right. The LX200s have the K62 trans which is superior to the X300s. Bagger assy is worth $150 or so. Low hours. Good Kawasaki motor. $1650 is in GT235 range where you get the K71, bigger wheels and tires but otherwise the same machine as the LX200.

Yep K58's above X300. Just more up to date and depends what he wants to do with it. They are definitely not GT's :tango_face_grin:

My yard is definitely not level:

I am guessing I need an X370 or better. I might have to replace the green pain with yellow or orange if buying new, with my 4K budget. I have only seen X300’s and nothing better here locally for sale in CL.

210 hours is not very many hours.

$1650 is a little steep. I sold my summer mowing rig LX288 48 in deck this fall for $1100. I am replacing it with a GT245 & 54 in. deck. Hope to save mowing time.

It's a little high priced $1,200- $1,400 where I live. The plus is its a very high end machine, extremely comfortable, fantastic steering, excellent drive train, quiet operation, and a very nice cut. With the hours that's on it, it's barely broke in. I've seen some with over 2000 hours on them. It's definitely worth a look.
