im going to get AG's for my front tires... and trying to figure if i need a second set of rims.. or if i would never use my turfs again...

regarding AG's on the front..
i know...
a. i dont need them
b. they may dig up my lawn a bit
c. it will be a bit more bumpy of a ride

BUT..

i really just like the look of them.. i checked CR tires and its actually cheaper to buy them local here.. plus they will install them free!!

now my question: would i ever go back to turfs?

id think the AG's would be ok in the winter... probably better gripping than Turfs (w/out chains - front tires)

and in the summer - except when its real wet and muddy.. the AG's should be fine too...

if i had a reason why i would need to use my turfs... id get a second set of front rims.. but if i had AG's on the front.. when (if ever) would i want to use turfs?

Thinking of going ag on front of my tractor with FEL when my current turfs need replacing. Never looked, but how much are Ags to replace 16x6.50x8? I'm sure I'll like them 500% more than turfs as my turfs slide some when using loader on slick manure coated barn floor. I use it for cleaning calf stalls & much more.

On the Kubota, I run only turfs. It has 4WD and differntial lock, but it has yet to get stuck or even slip. I blew all winter with no chains, just 4wd L on the machine. In my area, my yard gets soft in the early spring, Ags would wreck it.

yeah.. leo im thinking about hat... thats why my Turfs are still on till later in the spring (or mud season as its oft called)
its been so dry here... not much mud this year...

I am actually considering going back to turfs for the front for the summer. I was working in some sogt stuff today and the AG's just leave indentations. AG's are fine for established turf but sloppy and the yard WILL get marked up. Even not sloppy: This is from a job I did today. The roller did not get it all out as you can see. Look in front of the transformer.

The Deere guys at Weekend Freedom Machines' web site tend to favor the tri-ribs for front tires, more closely replicating the set up of a real farm tractor. In reality, the tri ribs tend to steer better on turf, snow and with a snowblower, plow or loader on front according to them.

when I was having snowblower front control problems on the 1050, I put an aggressive knobby on the front with good results...it put more psi on the knobs and grabbed good in the turns. seems to me reversed AGs would do the turns OK, but not sure how they'd handle a sideways slide...the knobbies did it all well.

Splicer, are you in the CATV biz? I was a "chief tech" for Comcast from 88 to 99.
