Today I tossed together some side rails for the trailer, still either need to close the sides in with some stretched mesh or I might just saw out some cedar 1x6s

Well I got myself a new wood hauler, 2011 Ford F250 Crew Cab, 50,500 miles.* It's been so warm I worked on the pile and started hauling today in earnest.* Got most of it cut up.

This is pretty much junk.

Processed to haul home to the stacks for splitting.

You can see where the pile was. The big one still needs to get pulled off, it is mighty heavy.

Is that the 6.2 gas motor? You've got quite a bit of squat in the rear. I'd recommend a set of air bags. I use them in mine because I 've got a large salt spreader in my truck. It completely eliminates the squat, and the truck handles much better at speed with a load on. And they're pretty inexpensive. https://www.airliftcompany.com/

Yup, the 6.2 gas motor. With the EPA mandated rules on diesels, the reliability and cost to repair is just too risky. I only drive 3-4,000 miles/year in the truck so fuel is not much of a concern for me.

With the load in that pic, I estimate to be a half cord it should be roughly 2,600 #'s. The springs were still 1.5" from the bump stops. Rode great down the road, the mileage indicator was climbing as I drive home. Between truck and trailer it is close to a cord.:tango_face_smile:

This is how I move my firewood: 1991 Ford F250, 110,xxx miles, with the 460 motor. (Passes everything on the highway, except for the gas-station.) Chain saw: Stihl MS250.

My 1993 does better on passing gas stations, it has two gas tanks.:tango_face_smile_bi

That is a great looking old Ford. I had an '87. Same 460 4 speed 4x4. Was my favorite truck. Same. No gas station could be too close!
Got 11-13 no matter what I was doing, empty or full.

Thanks! Its my daily driver!

Forgot about this thread, cant find my trailer.
Did you put a suspension on that dual axle setup or is it straight axles just welded to the frame?

Been either using the truck or the tractors to move the wood (brush).

Of course after I bucked and split it all and ranked it up for initial seasoning, I would then move it to my woodshed using my yard tractor and poly cart.

That proved to be a little slow going so I borrowed my neighbor's ATV trailer.

That works. Last load I bought, put it in front of the woodshed.
You can't get a big rig anywhere near where my woodshed is. I have a wood processing area off to the side of my driveway that is out of sight from my house and yard. Keeps the mess away from my yard.

I buck it up and rank it right away to get a start on it drying. After the snow is gone, I split it up and rank it again.

They say that the wood warms you twice. LOL it warms me 4 or 5 times.

Who makes that trailer? Looks real nice and heavy duty.
Ford tractors,Its a old craftsman single axle trailer with modified bed and tongue.Made from recycled materials(bed frame, window frame 1/2in. water pipe, heavy wt. simpson ties)and lots of chopsaw work.
