I was at Harbor Freight over the weekend and was looking at generators. Seen a little 2 cycle 63cc 2hp 900w generator called a TailGator for $110. I thought how can I go wrong for that price so I bought it. For a small cheap generator I couldn't ask for more. I really like that its a 2 cycle, its so small and light weight. Anybody else heard of these?

I've had one for a couple of years. Handy little rig, but heavier than it looks. It can't power anything heavy, but 7 amps or less will probably be okay. It says 6.5, but at that level of manufacture, nothing is very accurate. I run a Harbor Freight 6" pole saw with it, to great effect. I can run an old Toro leaf blower. The newer ones are too beefy. A small Remington chain saw will work, too. I also managed to make coffee in a 4 cup capacity coffee maker. That surprised me. It will NOT run your refrigerator. Or Micro Wave, Stove, Hot Plate, etc.

It has 900 starting watts and 700 run watts. I bring it with me all the time. It will run a lot of stuff. I use this stuff for fuel. It doesn't deteriorate and is pretty much spill free.

I was thinking it wouldn't have enough power to run a full size refrigerator or freezer but have heard they do fine running a mini fridge. I got it to take on ATV/dirt bike camping trips and to run power tools where there is no power outlet.

I also use that canned non ethanol fuel in my small equipment that doesn't get used regularly. There is one station 7 miles from me that sells non ethanol premium. Ethanol-free gas stations in the U.S. and Canada

Well with Hurricane Zeta our power is out. I got bags of ice to put in the drawers of our 2 refrigerators. I also have an upright freezer.

the power company informed us last night that it could be up to 4 days.
Well my freezer is jam packed and I know in 4 days it will be melted.
So I said what the heck, maybe the tailgater will run just one of them and I can swap every couple hours and keep all three cool enough to get through.

so I hooked it up to the upstairs fridge (side by side) and held my breathe.., it worked!!!
Ran it all night.
So this morning I figured I needed to try the freezer. Unplugged the one upstairs and went to the basement. I have a top/bottom fridge with a full size upright freezer next to it.
They are both plugged into a heavy duty extension cord which is plugged in elsewhere. I really didn’t want to pull both out to individually plug one in, so I plugged the extent. Cord with Both on it into the generator, figuring if it overloads it will pop the circuit, no big deal.

well it worked.

as They say, don’t push your luck, I’m too scared to try an plug the third in. So to answer your question, in my situation, not only is it running a full sized fridge, but a freezer as well.

it pushes the limits for about 30sec every few minutes on the motor, but it has been working, going on 24 hrs now. Plus I have1 led lamp and 2 phone chargers running

I've had several, they are cheap Chinese garbage . but when they work they work OK. used mine to run lights and fans . power is very unclean for refer compressors . all the ones I had fluctuated hz terribly . impossible to get parts for . the last one I had bit the dust with leaky carb seals and a sunk float . I tore it down just for fun and the piston and cylinder looked almost new ( gen had hundreds of hours on it ) so they arnt that bad I guess . just like most h.f stuff you can't get parts for em .
