Landed my first Speedex on the weekend. I bought it on ebay back in January and just got around to picking it up in Indiana. Would have been a 14 hour round trip but I managed to combine the pickup with business in Chicago so it was a 3 hour side trip rather than a dedicated trip.

I like the simplicity of this tractor. It looks like it's simple enough for me to tackle as a first restoration project.

The motor turns over so I hope it will start without too much work. It came with a set of discs and a cultivator.

Hey, I was bidding on that and thought was mine till last minute of course. That is a nicer model for Speedex. should have the T-92 trans like a Power King, just turned sideways. Not sure what you have for brakes, sometimes they didn't have much. I have a 1430 and is similar. It has a little pad that goes into the drive pulley on the trans and an added hand pulled brake on rear diff gear. Both work, the pedal one does pretty good, better than I thought it would. They steer nice, a little hard to get on and not much for foot rests. Mower decks are so-so. I have a snow blade it it is pretty good. Things lift with that long lever and at times seem a ways out there to use, but seem to over-can and lock in upright position like "majic"! I also have a couple 1040's which have foot rests and standard rear axle gear box and seems more modern. Using K engine (not many in Speedex) from one to go in other and not sure what is gonna happen to the chassis from donor yet. They are kinda simple, but kinda crude too. One thing for sure everyone will think it is a real old model even when it may have been built in 80's!

Forgot to say, I want one with that crude bumper/hauling area on it. Didn't like that look at first, but bet is real handy place to put stuff, say at a swap meet while running around buying stuff. Also looks like someone added to steering shaft. I want to do that to mine too, the wheels are kinda low and just take another 6" or so to make more pleasant. Search around for Speedex forums. They don't get much action, but a few have good info. Google for addresses. www.speedextractorinformation.org is good one. Hope I have that right and note is ORG, not com. They have some manuals to download and or print for most models. A fella named Mike Hamper also has a good side with lots of pictures, have to look that one up myself. One on Yahoo groups. Also find decals from Mike Hamper. The STrongland brand was a startup for last of Speedex and it also has some websites. They talk Speedex on those too.

Rusty,

Thanks, I'm pretty stoked about this too. I discovered as I tried to roll it off the trailer that the transmission is stuck in gear. I have the same issue with one of the trannys on my Power King so I will be taking both apart to fix them. I've seen the fix detailed and it looks like it will be easy once I get if apart. Fortunately I have welding equipment, just short of time.

hey Crete: Yeah fix me up with pix and measurements on that bumper thing. Can put here or if you wish PM me and I can send an email address if you prefer, thanks. That trans stick issue is easy fix, or you can send to couple guys on the Pk Yahoo forum for repair too. Sometimes one will stick and not do again for long time w/out fixing. You Do have to remove the top to get back in N first time tho. But just when you don't want or need it to, it will jamb again. Durn things!
