JD 2xx Engine Blown?

My JD 214 has the 240 cc Kawasaki engine. It was running fine, pulling a small trailer when suddenly sputtered, belched smoke and won't restart. Turns over but doesn't fire. Pulled plug and it's has lots of oil on it. Seems to be belching oil through the exhaust as well.
I'm guessing rings.
Any feedback on cost to replace or repair this engine. Otherwise the tractor is in great shape.
Thanks.

X2 on that.

If it has a Kawasaki in it then get rid of it and put a cast iron K series Kohler back in it. Better motor for the amount of pulling and torque these tractors have. Can take much more abuse too. They can rack up quite a few hours.

humm not sure. My garden tiller is 212cc. Most 214's had the K321AQS kohler which is 512cc. Seems like 240cc would be underpowered for a mower deck.

600cc bike will be different. You do not have a governor keeping it maxed at 3600 rpm. Or we could say, limit your 600cc bike with the max rev limit to 3600 rpm. Probably end up being only 25-30 hp.

Pretty much why a lot of gocart people take a 5hp briggs and pull the governor out so that the engine can reach 8,000 rpm. Big jump in horsepower from what it's designed to be.

If they didn't lower the rpms of mower engines, they would ware out before 500 hrs of use. So guess a person needs to keep that in mind.

I would re ring it and see what happens. That is if bore looks fine.

These engines are pretty easy to find in my area, not sure about yours.

The FC420V is a 14 hp engine. Even a FB460V should bolt right in. But you are loosening 2 hp. But still an option.
