there is no continuity between the trigger/solenoid wire and the red and white/blue and white wire like I thought should be. There is however continuity between the 2 black wire spade of harness and trigger wire.

 

The 1691705 number is for the mower deck. What is the tractor #?

The only Broadmoor diagram I have shows the "S" terminal of the ign.sw. wired directly to the solenoid. Ground is controlled by the safety circuitry.

My bad!!! It's a 16lth.

 

The "s" terminal wire goes to a harness where it is adjoined with a blue and white wire before connecting to module. I assumed was the same blue and white wire that triggered solenoid but there is no continuity between them. Should there be? There is continuity between the harness spade and the blue and white wire connecting to magnetos! Hope I'm makin clear.

Don't know an online source for your model#. You could ask a dealer to make you a copy. Or, you could call Briggs Cust. Svc. (1-800-837-6836). They were very helpful to me in obtaining a Service Manual. They might know how to get a wiring diagram.

You said you can't get 12V at the solenoid. Even though the wiring diagrams I have are not for your model, there is still a good chance the wire from "S" is supposed to go directly to the solenoid. Any way you can trace it?

Update. I believe someone's got wiring crossed previously somewhere.

The blue and white trigger wire on solenoid is connected to magneto of key switch. Therefore if you put 12v battery wire to it the solenoid gets power. This will never happen during keyed operation unless that blue and white magneto wire is connected with the red and white starter wire.

 

The blue and white wire with boot on solenoid looks factory though. Basically if I put the starter wire from hey switch to solenoid and a black wire running from M of key switch to magneto it should be proper. I'm trying to figure out why it is the way it is though. Anyone following?

 

I'm going to tie the blue and white wire with the red and white wire in the "S" terminal. The red and white don't even have continuity to starter but blue and white dies. So by doing above mentioned and running wire from "M" to magneto it should be compliant!

Boom! I was right. They have wrong key switch. It fits harness but S and M are reversed!

 

We got it running easily once got the electrical figured out. Hard to tell how long its sat but were about to bring her back to life! Thanks alot for everyone's input!
