Ok so yes I'm on facebook and I look through the "local marketplace" daily.

I hope this thread doesn't jinx me. but I found a 332 for a price I can afford! :tango_face_surprise

Runs great, bad seat and paint, has a 50" deck but needs a lift arm remade as it broke, need the hood fixed also but hey I'm a body guy so it can be fixed and repainted!

All I want is a good running engine and a good trans. for the price I'm going to pay I'll take it and it's only 40 mins away!

WOO HOO Finally! :tango_face_grin: :praying: :bannana:

I had 2 bad deals go down where I was not able to make the deal even though I had cash in hand at asking price in one day so please wish me good luck so the deal goes through on Sunday.

You just stay where you are. I got this, I don't need any help messing up this deal. :tango_face_kiss:

I'd be on pins and needles with a good deal in limbo for 5 days especially this time of year...good luck!

Ok OK I just got it home. LOL............ :tango_face_smile_bi

So the guy lives in the middle of nowhere, The parking lights took a crap in the truck on me on the way back, the tractor slid to the back of the trailer causing one heck of a ride home but it's here. :tango_face_grin:

Dang that bugger is heavy! :tango_face_surprise I used my 12K winch to get it on the trailer and the winch went gggggrrrrrrr pulling it on because it has a locked up left wheel. I was trying to unhook the trailer from the truck but the hitch was stuck since the tractor slid on the wet wood deck to the back of the trailer.

I got the hitch unhooked only to watch the trailer stand on the rear end because the tractor was all the way against the back! :tango_face_surprise

I'll get better pics and start a new thread when I get to getting it mowing. :sidelaugh

Oh I guess I need someone to help me with the sideways pics I posted. :tango_face_sad:

She is one rusty bugger BUT yes it is a solid base to start with and I have been wanting/dreaming of the day when I could buy a 332 for a good price.

Heck for $900 and the deck, I drove as fast as I could after loading it. BUT the guy had a 445 with a #40 loader on it, another 332 and a 318.
Now I just found out he is selling the 445 and loader. I want that loader! :tango_face_surprise

Oh and I just found a pair of 317 side panels for $50 I will make them fit on the 332 . LOL......:tango_face_devil:

Anyone need a frame, trans, hood, fender pan or seat in central PA?

I may grab the seat if it's good. :tango_face_wink:

Looks like a fun project.

Side note: Always be careful with towing and properly securing your load with multiple (front and rear) ratchet straps and try not to disconnect a trailer from the vehicle while its still loaded. That could have ended badly. I'm done with my preaching, sorry.

Ha Ha. The left rear wheel is locked up so I didn't think it would move with the winch hooked to it and I have the sides on so there is no way to tie it down. It was very dark when we got back and I didn't see the tractor slid to the back of the trailer. That tractor has to weigh a ton to tilt the trailer on end because I can't lift the tongue even when it's empty.

Now to go get better pics. :tango_face_grin:

Ok daylight pics.

Well, definitely some work on the deck as it looks like some rust-through there. The tractor looks about the same condition as my 322 when I picked it up. Probably your left brake is seized up, might take some work to break it loose or you might get lucky and it'll pop loose with just a little persuasion. Good deal for sure! BTW I always block up the rear of my trailer if I have to keep a load in it and disconnect from the vehicle. That keeps it from dropping down if too much weight behind the axles.

Yeah, cold, wet and dark, wasn't thinking, just knocked the trailer loose and pulled the truck around. the truck is my daily driver so I couldn't let the trailer hooked up.

I'm excited to get this thing hooked to a deck and see what it can do. :tango_face_grin:

I guess I'll make a muffler for it as it is straight piped right now. LOL......... :tango_face_wink:

I looked and I think it has LED headlights in it. :tango_face_surprise Then to get a left side light mount and get some rear lights in it. :tango_face_grin:

Why does every tractor with those rear lights have missing lights?

#21 ·
Because JD can engineer a good tractor but the jr. engineer that was responsible for designing the mounting of the lights must've had a bad day at the drawing table!! Or, the product engineers were told one part has to keep generating revenue and the mounts were intentionally designed to cause the lights to fall out. I've replaced mine at least once and nearly had to do it again last year.

yeah I have been thinking about that BUT I use it for hauling coal and wood. a flat shovel doesn't clean things up so well with D-rings in the deck. :tango_face_sad:

baah.... that faded brown/green camo-scheme paint will buff right out and be good as new!
Ha ha nope new pait this winter. :tango_face_grin:

Welcome to the red cap club, finally. That 332 should keep you happy for awhile.
been looking for years for one of these. now to get the deck on and find out what it can do. 5 years of mowing with a 314 and a 50" deck waiting for the tractor to catch up stinks.

Sound advice, I have seen a few post around here that tell of the disaster that happens when their tractor falls off the trailer. The last one i saw was coincidentally a 332...he toasted his pump, luckily that was it.

I saw that post and responded to it. There was no way for the tractor to get off the trailer with the sides and the rear gate.

I really didn't think it was going anywhere with the winch hooked up to it and the rear wheel locked up. but............... :tango_face_crying:

I tie down everything overkill normaly. I just figured I have nowhere to tie down to, the rear wheel is locked up and I have the winch tied to it, where is it going?

Great find, looking forward to your progress on the restoration!

I've wondered the same about the rear lights in almost every old JD I've seen for sale around here too, BTW.

I won't add to the wave of concern about your trailer tiedown "technique." Suffice it to say, you've just reinforced (to me) that I haven't been paranoid all these years when I tie mine down. I always have wondered if it was overkill, because it seems like the landscapers don't bother.

WOO HOO! I know I know this is dumb luck BUT I found the "other" half of the lift arm I needed for the deck. I went 3 miles to get a side cover and he had the other half imagine that! $5 Yeah buddy!

It is. BUT I will modify it to fit. I can't find one for the 332 or a muffler. So I'll make both. :tango_face_grin:

I'll have the welder out for the lift arm anyway. :tango_face_wink:

I still can't believe I found the arm for $5. :tango_face_smile_bi

I found out after I got a new battery for it that the PTO clutch doesn't work. Will one from a 300 16hp Kohler fit?

I found out it does have LED head lights. Man are they bright! :tango_face_surprise
