Owners manual pg 105 just says to use ethylene or propylene-glycol based antifreeze mixed with water 40%-60% (best 50%)

I'm not familiar with the Rotella stuff ... But I'd think it should meet the above criteria ...

Just looked at my manual again, and it says to change the coolant every two years, or 1000 hours ... Doesn't say, but I'm guessing that it is "which ever comes first" ... ?

In my opinion two years seems a bit soon, how many cars change it that often?

 

Strange, mine says yearly, but I agree that seems like overkill.

 

My 2021 says ... I can't imagine that there is any real difference in the motor between yours and my 1725

Guess they too thought every year was overkill, and changed it!

These small engines are run differently from cars, as they typically will spend most of their time running at their maximum speed for an extended period of time...

 

Meaning? Yearly or every 2 years /1000 hrs?

 

I would follow when the service interval says, that 2y/1000hrs....
