'51 Cub Should I Keep It.

I got a 51 cub from my neighbor with a finishing mower for $200. I'm not sure how long it has been sitting. I freed up the valves this morning and went through the carburetor. I had to bypass most of the electrical and go straight to the coil. It runs, but I'm not sure how much money I want to put into it. It has a stuck clutch, bad radiator, and needs a front tire. Also, some they welded the rear lift arm bracket right to the top of the pto box. Other than that it's not in too bad of shape.

You can put a search, and notify on Craigslist, and it will let you know when something is listed. I'd probably do a search for Farmall Cub. That should sort out Cub Cadets. You'll probably get more hits for the tractors, then implements, but, you never know. Watch ads for local auctions to, especially consignment auctions. I saw several Cub implements at one local consignment auction this year. Pretty well went for peanuts, because they only fit the Cub, or, it's a PIA to mount them.

Just be aware that with the up and rising organic vegetable farming, and market farming, people are now again looking for them. Too bad it wasn't a little newer, and had Fast Hitch. So much simpler. Attachments like cultivators are a half day job to mount. And, lots of fingers have been cut off attaching them. They will fold up in a heartbeat, so be careful..!!
