I'd suggest you order a downloadable Service Manual for your 445. I did that for my 425 and it's well worth the small cost. You can find them on Ebay, that's where I got mine. That should guide you through the steering column removal and anything else that might come up in the future.

 

I already did.. This is from the manual.

"2. Remove footrest for access to lower dash panel
mounting screws.
3. Remove all components necessary to remove dash
panel and access steering assembly."

I was just hoping someone that has done this before could clarify/elaborate a little.

 

My advice is to read the manual, but disassemble only what you really need to. The manual for my GX345 said to take all kinds of parts off to change the throttle cable. In retrospect, most parts could have stayed in place. If your tilt wheel works like mine does, I would start by pulling the steering wheel and dig down from there.

 

I haven't done that before on my 455... but would love to know if it's a 30min job... or a 3hr job..
