When I looked at this 318 I assumed it had a p218 Onan and the owner said the last time he tried to start it it would not fire and he thought it was the coil,I thought, well he is probably wrong and it is the electronic ignition and I have a complete 218 with the ignition so all is well. This am I looking at the engine plate and it is B43G with point's,for me that is good,I can fix the "no fire problem without removing the engine"just got to get the coil from him.Now I need to know what year the 318 is,the model number isMoo318x222082,if it is an "82" model my guess is that it is an early model 318 and that is why it has a B43g and not p218.It only has 700 hrs on it and does not appear to have any of the cowling removed or been disassembled. It has a fuel shutoff and a reserve fuel supply,Any information will be helpful. My 316 and the 318 have the same looks but ARE quite different, the throttle linkage is different as to the way they are mounted.oil cooler on 318,oil filter 318,reserve fuel 318.the list goes on.

The 316's and 381's are very different! The 318 was the first model to have the open rear end and power steering standard. I recently sold a B43 that had 1100 hours on it and when I fired it up it ran very strong. The coil was mounted completely different than my P218 also. You can still find the coils on ebay and you might want to check onanparts.com as they have most or all of the parts for the engines yet.

Would that mean with the serial #222082 indicate that was the 82th off the assembly line. The op has the coil, just got to go pick it up.
