Hi guys, since I fitted my new box scraper to the back I've found the front of the tractor pretty light on some of my hills. I've since added 4 x 42 pound John Deere weights to the front bracket and things are much better.

My question is regarding the fitting of the weights. I dont see anywhere where they bolt together or attach securely to the weight bracket. As they are just hanging on the bracket they seem to move around alot and make alot of noise as they bang together. Is there an official part I'm missing or are is it the norm to just tie them together with something?

there is a part that you can get, but my dealer just gave me a piece of threaded rod and some nuts. it goes thru the holes in the frame just over the little "lips" on the weights

IThanks GADeere, is that what the two open holes at either end of the weight bracket are for? Does the rod go through there and just above the ridges on the back of the weights?

yep, that's it. I use two nuts each end of the threaded rod and "jam" them so they don't loosen

Thanks GADeere, what diameter is the rod you use? 14mm?

honestly, I don't have a clue, pretty sure it's not metric, but probably close to 14mm just looking at it.

I use the weights in the front and I dont use the rod. They aren't going anywhere.

Thanks for all your replies....here's what I ended up doing. Its a piece of 12mm threaded rod with a galvanised steel plate at each end. This is locked together with two nuts at one end and a wingnut at the other so I can get it on and off easy. Works really well, no movement what so ever.

I think in USD they end up being about $1 a pound so around the $40-45USD mark. These were $75 NZD each.

Nice Job, necessity is the mother of invention. Yeah, they sure are proud of anything with John Deer Green on it and they now how we love our machines and take pride in them. They just have a direct line to our wallets and seem to have no shame.

Hi

Looks good. That should keep things quiet and in place.

Cheers
