Hi
My manual states SAE 20 oil for the hydrostatic drive.
Could someone tell me the equivalent.
Think it's ISO 68 but need to be sure
Is it classed as transmission oil or hydraulic oil?
Thanks

I use TDH oil in mine. Transmission/Differential/Hydraulic in mine. Can be bought most everywhere, Walmart, etc.

I have seen a few different oils listed in manuals.
The Fluid Recommendations .JPG I posted is out of a Eaton
Repair manual.
It looks like you can't go wrong as long as it’s clean and no water. Engine
Oil is probably the cheapest.
I agree 10w30 engine oil would be a good choice it covers a lot of heat range.

Hi the reset switch is probably for the cruise control. While you are driving you put the switch up and hold it for a second and it kicks in the electric magnet to hold the treadle pedal in the position that your foot has it in. Then you can take your foot off the pedal like cruise control.

Synthetic oil does not have any additional cleaners or detergents in it than regular oil of the same grading. It will not remove any sludge that a conventional oil would not remove. You can mix synthetic with regular oils (semi-synthetic), you can go from syn to regular and back to syn . Synthetic oils have a man made base as opposed to crude base and does not break down as quickly as well as maintains its viscosity better in all heat ranges. The only thing that syn will do is have a tendancy to leak past a worn seal easier than regular crude stock oils. The only thing I have seen a syn oil do in such applications as maybe a motorcycle where oil lubricates a clutch as well is for a clutch to possibly slip due to its better lubricating abilities. In a hydro there are no friction clutches to affect. An eaton 11 recommends 20w oil that is designed for no wet clutches so motor oil is fine.
