Man, I've had more issues with my 2305 in the past 2 weeks, than I have had in the past year.
So now, my 3pt lever will not move forward to put the implement down.
Can't see what the problem is.
Any ideas.
I will be contacting the dealer tomorrow morning.

Greg

Check you Drop/lock Valve to make sure it has not closed...;)

Using Rate of Drop/Lock Valve

The rate of drop/lock valve controls the rate of rockshaft drop when the rockshaft control lever is operated. This provides direct rate of drop control for 3-point hitch mounted implements. The valve can also be used to hydraulically lock the rockshaft (three-point hitch) in a desired position.

CAUTION: Avoid injury! Excessive rate-of-drop may cause injury or damage. Fully lowering implement should take at least 2 seconds.

IMPORTANT: Avoid damage! To prevent overheating hydraulic oil and damaging machine, do not raise rockshaft when drop/lock valve is closed.

Increase Rate of Drop: Rotate drop/lock valve knob (A) counter-clockwise to make drop faster.
Decrease Rate of Drop: Rotate drop/lock rate valve knob (A) clockwise to make drop slower.

CAUTION: Avoid injury! Do not use the rockshaft drop/lock valve for holding an attachment in raised position for service work. Loss of hydraulic pressure could result in sudden drop of attachment. Lower attachment onto blocks or remove from machine before servicing.

Lock 3-Point Hitch: Rotate drop/lock rate valve knob clockwise until tight.

Unlock 3-Point Hitch: Rotate drop/lock rate knob counter-clockwise.

I had already checked the drop/lock valve, and that was ok.
Brought the tractor to the dealer this morning. We looked into
the problem right away. Here is the problem:

Where the lever is attached to the shaft. This shaft goes into
a housing. The cover of this housing has the detent with steel
ball bearing. The cover is made of aluminum. Basically, the steel
ball bearing wore out the channel that the ball bearing sits in,
therefore not allowing me to move the handle or shaft to the
position where I could lower the implement. In fact, it is also
wearing the area so that in a short time, I would not have been
able to raise the implement. So, ordered the new aluminum cover
and all related parts. I am without my tractor until at least next
Tuesday. Not what I wanted to hear with more snow on the way.

Sorry to hear that. :( Did the dealer have any insight as to why yours is wearing so badly?

:fing20:
HOW LONG did this take to happen?
And is it being fixed under warranty?
It seems there is a ticking timebomb in every unit out there...:(

Yea that sucks how old is your tractor and like the others were saying does dealer have any idea what is causing this, and will any of it be covered under warranty .....JD you would think should cover the parts....ir not the labor.!!!!!!!!

I got the tractor new in October 2008.
Yes, it is all covered under warranty.
Have no idea as to why it is wearing the way it is.

My only guess, is the harder steel ball bearing is just wearing
on the softer aluminum cover where the ball bearing
resides in a channel.

Greg

That's a new one on me too. I haven't seen any failures like that on any of the other model CUT's either. I looked for other failures on DTAC and couldn't find anything. Deere may want this part back to have a look at it. At least yur dealer seems to be lookin after ya.

dealers sure do get the crap when something breaks, if it was out of warranty, guess what.....they don't cover it....(!!!!!!!!!!!!)! things do break, it happens to all brands.

Glad to hear it will be covered and fixed, sorry you have snow coming! i hope you have a back up

Greg how many hours do you have on it and it there a way it can be lubricated? slkpk

I have 175 hours on the machine.
No, there is no way to lubricate this area.

I agree, things do break. It is a piece of machinery, and if it is going
to be used, it will eventually break or wear out. In my guess, I am glad
it wore out while under warranty. If it would break or wear out after
warranty, I would still fix it.

My dealer is excellent and will do what they can to get things covered.

Please keep us updated on this and hope you get it back real soon. slkpk

Not my experience at all and it is the reason I bleed green. To me, the dealer is the most important decision. :)

JD,
i agree, its also the reason i have all the deere equipment that i do. i was referring to the post:

"JD you would think should cover the parts....ir not the labor.!!!!!!!!"

I also feel my dealer is very important and thats why i buy my equipment where i do, BUT if a machine breaks out of warranty, i have no expectations that the dealer will cover parts OR labor. If its a known problem that happens repeatedly i would think they should work with you, but everytime something breaks people shouldn't be expecting it to be fixed for free, thats why its a warranty! Its not like a service tech went out the night before and broke my tractor so he could fix it, Its just ownership, its my problem. We use our equipment, its bound to break, and it doesn't matter what brand, they all break.

If the dealers had to pick up and deliver everything that breaks for free, and fix it for free like i have read so many times, do you think they would be in business? Maybe, but our equipment would more than triple in price to cover expenses.

Fortunately Gregs tractor was still under warranty, and my post does not refer to him, and he didn't make the 'deere should cover it' statement. It seems he has taken care of it with the dealer, i hope he didn't get too much snow while it was being worked on.

Greg, we think the same. its just part of owning a machine, get it back soon and get rid of that snow!

According to Deere, pick up, delivery and service calls are not covered under warranty. That being said, at least at the dealer I work for, we often cover all that to please our customers. Also, and I may be giving away a secret here, there is a way the dealer can cover SOME of the cost of out of warranty repairs for the customer. NEVER hurts to ask! Deere will cover most anything under warranty if the dealer words the claim correctly and doesn't over charge on the labor. I work it like this.. Look at machine, advise customer, repair machine and file warranty. IF for some weird reason Deere will not pay, then the customer has alreadt been advised that they are responsible for the repair. Upon payment, either by Deere or customer, they get the machine back. Warranty claims are either denied or approved quickly, within 2 working days at most. As I said, Deere is the best at paying out warranty claims. I've worked for em all.

same with my dealer, they will bend over backwards to help me on waranty issues. i live 45 minutes away from the dealer and they still picked it up, fixed it and hauled it back for free. probaly helps that one of their salesman lives 10 minutes from my house. he just picks it up before work, drops it off after work.
