Saw a potentially for sale GT in a snow bank today. On the hood in block letters was the word INTERNATIONAL. cub cadet was'nt on the hood.

I know it is a long shot from the vague description (only the hood was above the snow and it was 100 yards away) I looked through alot of CC photos and don't see anything the same. My question is was there another GT company that had a INTERNATIONAL logo? Did certain years/models of CC only say international on the hood?

I am in Canada if that helps.

well i only have limited CC knowledge, but i will do my best...

the company started out as International Harvester. they made the big farm tractors, crawlers, and i think little trucks too.

in 1961, I.H. branched out and made a garden tractor. it was called the International Harvester Cub Cadet Original. So for the first few years, up until about '66 i think, the tractors were sold under the name I.H. Cub Cadet. after that, the tractors, while still made by I.H., were called Cub Cadet.

So i think that if the tractor you saw said International Harvester, it must be pretty old, and by the same token rare.

David, what color was this tractor? There were some cub cadets with international on the hood ,but in very small letters.

Yeah the letters were very small. White coloured hood with small black letters and maybe some red lines. Had a manual lift sticking up.

Murphy thats for posting that pic, it did'nt look like that but if it did I would have been banging on the door begging for it. That is a sharp looking rig. Bet not alot of those front wheel fenders survived!

I'll get back out there with a camera and take some pics.
Thanks

The front fenders are not factory.

With the international on the hood with some red lines, it kind of sounds like the hood decal on a 70/100 cub cadet. Someone has pics of his 100 in another thread so check it out and see if that is what is was.

The first garden tractor IH made was just called Cub Cadet. It was called Original by collectors, owners, etc., and wasn't an official name. In 1963 IH made the Cub Cadet 70 and the Cub Cadet 100. From that time on IH used numbers for their models and each was a Cub Cadet, if they were a garden tractor. IH made Cub Cadets from 1961 until they sold the line to Cub Cadet Corporation in 1981. The Cub Cadet Corporation was newly formed by MTD for this.

Yeah that is usually my advice as well. I will definetley stop in there when I see a car in the drive. I was trying to figure out what it was so I could do enough research so I could do a quick assessment of condition/ parts $ needed so I don't offer too much.

David,

A picture of my Cub Cadet Original in the snow! I wish you luck in your advantage!
