Got the itch today.
Weather was nice and the roads were dry.
Decided to go get the G4 from the cottage and bring her home or a while.

It's been freaking snowing here most of the day !!

What's that body of water in the background ?

There was actually a few flakes falling as we drove home.

That's the Big Rideau, Larry.
Largest section of the Rideau canal that connects the Ottawa river, in Ottawa, to lake Ontario, in Kingston.
I'm sure you've heard of it.
I think it's a world heritage site or something.

Had to google it GB...... they don't let me out much, since I got married.

I see some open water along the edge...... but I didn't see any pics of you fishin'. Is your place right on the water?

It's the family cottage built by my grandfather back in the '70's.
My dad inherited it when my granddad passed 20 years ago.

It's on a rather small lot, but it's on a point, so we have a few hundred feet of water front.
A beach at the back, dock on one side, the point, some channel frontage and a concrete dock right in front.
Oh, and two big sheds, currently full of tractors!
It's an awesome spot.
Spent most of my summers growing up there.

Our "point" is where the pics were taken.
It's the pointiest part of the property, which in itself, is technically a point.

Not much into fishing anymore, but went religiously with my uncle twice a day as a kid.
I think my favourite part though, to be honest, was driving the boat!

Was looking for a picture of the buildings, but none on hand right now.
All I could find was this pic from the back deck.

So if you ask if we're on the water...

Can't be much closer before you've got a house boat!

You're makin' me jealous ! I'd be spending all day fishing (instead of cutting grass) if that was my backyard.

Just curious, have you got manuals for that K bike? I saw an ad for some, that's why I ask.

I just saw this thread, I think I just found one of my new favorite bikes :thThumbsU Will definitely keep an eye out in case one of these pops up for sale, just hope if I ever see one I have the money :hide: Might cry if I missed something like this :sad_02:

A few search tips for you:
Search Kijiji for "G4", " Kawasaki G4", "KV100" and finally just "Kawasaki 100".
Some people don't know the model. They just advertise it as an old 100cc 2 stroke with hi/lo range, or sometimes don't even mention that part.
Just be careful you don't end up with a G5 or a KE100.
They have the same rotary valve motor but no dual range transmission.
The frame is narrower and the seat is a dead giveaway.
If the G4 is original it will have the rear luggage rack, or a bald spot were it was removed (like mine)

Only one for sale that I could find today in Ontario.
Motor is in pieces. Price is a bit steep for a basket case.
Looks to be in decent shape though, I like the look of the older ones.
Almost on the route between me and Larry...

Thanks for the tips!! Ill start looking in my province and in provinces that I have friends and family try and triple my chance :dunno: Sure like to find one, really like the Hi/Lo range and the fact the can be street legal. I like street an trail bike because I can go anywhere without a trailer :thThumbsU

Not trying to brag, Larry. You asked.
My folks live up there all summer now since they retired.

I do have some electronic manuals I got from my neighbour, who is also the head mechanic for this bike.
He has the 2 stroke touch. I am still learning.
The engine on this bike was used for decades in the KE100.
I guess that says something for the design :dunno:

Thought I would post a link to a site for Kawasaki model references.
Can't read the headers (in Japanese) but the pictures are there, and all the original specs are in English.

KAWASAKI MODEL RECOGNITION MANUAL

Got this pic of a G4TRA with the shovel holster.
Reading the specs, it says it's only a 5 speed.
I am still learning here, but maybe 5 speed G4's are out there too!?
This also says it was a modified version or Australian farms, so maybe it's unique.
I'm no expert on these, by any means.

I just like the shovel holder :dunno:

Here's the specs for the original 1970 G4 "Trailboss", which mentions the dual range.

This is the 1974 G4TRD.

It doesn't mention the 10 speeds, although it has 'em.
They changed the letter designation at the end of the model each year.
A TRA is a 1971, TRB is a '72, TRC '73 etc...

I also like to follow the path less traveled.
Getting there on the same machine is a double bonus.

The only other bike I want now is a 2wd Rokon.
I have never been on one, but I think it would be almost unstoppable.
I'm not sure if they are road legal though. Maybe the newer ones.

EDIT: They are! Check out this Rokon dual sport... https://www.rokon.com/bikes/ranger

I have always wanted one of those too, maybe I should shorten up my wish list :hide: I first saw the 2wd Rokon on that show "American Restoration" looked them up on line and fell in love with them. They're slow but can go about anywhere, rims act as water/fuel tanks and can be filled with sand for weight, pretty cool if you ask me :thThumbsU Have you seen the new 2wd Yamaha bikes, they are geared to go quite fast and can still crawl pretty good, they designed them for overland and desert rally's/races as far as I know. The going price is steep but they look just like a normal dirt bike, quite the machine...EDIT: That street legal Rokon is amazing!! Wonder how many are kicking around out there?? Would love to have one :thThumbsU
