Thanks for the help and info on these. Put the drift cutters on (one each side) since I get various drifts............They worked to perfection! Cut the drift and also it FELL inside the blower.

Also added my plastic Deere wheel weights. Seemed to work better, but I still lost traction a few times going into the big drifts.... SLOW! I would just back up and go at it again until it cut through.

Pics to come, today!

Looking forward to the pics. slkpk

Cool !

The wheel weights are a definite plus. I actually need them to mow. Nice thing about adding weight to the rims is you dont overload your axle.

I may have to consider the drift cutters later if I have issues.

Good to hear. ( pics) Sorry I don't have anything else but "SLOW! I would just back up and go at it again until it cut through." If someone knows any other ( or better) way.......

Here are the pictures- Can you guys tell me if I have the Drift Cutters installed right? There were no instructions.... You can turn them IN or OUT as to the way you mount them to divert the snow in our out. Also, you can mount them on the inside of the blower box or the outside.....They work great the way I have them.............

Hard to tell in this picture, but this is how I hooked up my Battry Tendor-
I always have it plugged in so the battery is ready to go!

Mine is on the outside, but if it works well ( if it ain't broke don't fix it) ( not kidding)
The battery tender is interesting. I have one on my generator but in 20 years haven't had a dead battery on my JD's .
I assume there is no problem with trickle, remember the thread on the X500's burning out something if you jumped them??

I've got to put some pressure treated blocks under the skids so the bottom of the blower isn't siting in salty water in between uses. ( State uses a lot @ the ends of my driveway)
Remember the looooooong thread on the correct chains? Bet yours haven't fallen off either !!
Buc you really have come a long way, GOOD JOB ! The way you are keeping it, it should last a long time. We hear a MTF ,of course, the horror stories, just remember my 318 lasted 22 ( trouble free) years and one of the Techs at JD bought it, because it was in such good condition. It has it's factory Onan motor transaxle power steering etc. They really do last if you take care of them. and best of all next year you can now start to divide the price /years owned. hummm 1986 318 $6000.00 ( with attachments ) / 22 years JD's may be inexpensive after all.

From the JD web site...
**** you!!!! I was going to let it go like KATT said, until you had to SHOW me that picture......Now it will bug the heck out of me knowing they are not right AND I will always have that vision in my head.......... :sidelaugh

I am weird like that. I think they call it "compulsive":00000060: something or other......

Well, Katt whines for pictures... sorry.

I'm not changing my opinion.:00000060:

Now it may not dump it into the blower. I think you would know if it was rubbing on anything otherwise what's the harm ?? :Disgus:

OCD ?? sing along with me " It's a jungle out there disorder and confusion every where. I could be wrong now !! but I don't think so !!!..........:bannana: :bananapow :bananapow

It looks good the way it is. However if your nuts fell off there is a possibility of the drift cutters falling into the snow and being caught up in your auger which might cost you some money down the road. I think being on the outside of the housing they would fall off and not be in front of the auger before you could stop. Just a thought. slkpk

Oh ya, I will flip them around. That is a good point, if one was to fall off, hopefully the drift cutter would land on the outside of the blower.

As for the nuts falling off, hopefully only ONE of the two would fall off. Then I could call my tractor "one nut."

:eek:mg: I wasn't going to say anything since it might upset your "compulsion " BUT..
I originally showed you the drift cutter on my 20 year old model #49.

Now I figure you PM'ed Mccabe as to how much to exactly torque the "nuts" so they won't fall off.. Well my Dad just used his Craftsman socket set 20 years ago, shook the bar, and said " feels good enough for me" :bannana:
Here's the hard part I know you are waiting for the falling off story after 20 years of bashing snow drifts...... but it was as tight as it ever was when I traded it in last Fall :00000060:

I know I know your " compulsion " didn't want to hear that! :sidelaugh
All that worry for nothing :Disgus:

It's a blessing and a curse Who's in charge here
