My X500 with 5.0 Hrs will only run for a short while then dies. The only way I can get it re-started is to take the fuel line off and crank it till it starts. It looks like I have fuel coming out of the exhaust, could that be? anyway I am ****** and any help would be great we are in the middle of a blizzard and I need to plow.

Understand we have to ask, but with only 5 hours have you read the owners manual and know the correct process for cold starting the engine? It also sounds a little like the engine is flooding. Are you using the choke when you start the engine? You will need to choke a cold engine and possibly hold the choke a few seconds when its this cold out to get the engine to stay running. Let us know....

I can get it started and it will run for about 15 min and then it sounds like it's flooding out and dies. **** I need to get out side we are getting hammered with snow. S.E. Wisconsin!!

Ok, you get 15 minutes. What are you doing for the 15 minutes? I would run it as hard as you can to keep the engine warm. It could be the carb icing up. The reason it runs again after sitting is the engine heat thaws the carb out.

Do you have fresh gas? Any chance there is moisture in your fuel supply? It may need a shot of heat additive in the gas. Would suggest you call the dealer first thing in the morning and describe your problem. Its been a few years since I wrenched on them. I'm not as familar with the current tractors and their engines.

You know I thought about that, I don't have one and that could be the problem.
I read about that in some TSB form john Deere so it is very serious matter, water condensation built up to the carb (he is just on top of the muffler)

Try to block the front grill with something and the air inlet on the side of the hood

The engine and its fan run at the same speed if the throttle is at high idle. More load on the engine causes higher fuel burn and more heat rejection.

Any chance there is E85 gas or something in the fuel that would ice up faster than regular gas?

on a serious note. if i bought a 2 or 3 THOUSAND dollar machine and was told afterwards that i had to dress it up to play in the snow i would be ummmmmm mad. to say the least.
