Happy Thanksgiving! :fing32:

With winter coming closer, I am looking for some input on a new set of rear tires for my JD318. I have been searching, but haven't seen this size pop up as being used. I have both a 50" and 48" deck at my disposal that I use to mow in the summer, so I don't believe I can fit a 26x12 without hitting. Does either deck provide more clearance for the larger tires?

These are what I am looking at:
Carlisle All Trail ATV Tire - 25X11-12

Thoughts..? Also, would anyone know what is the largest front tire I can run to level it out without impeding my turning radius?

Looks like a good tire. Some tractors the deck is not affected by tire size while other's will mess up the leveling of the deck. I used to like the idea of bigger diameter tires, but now I do not. Because blowing snow, the ground speed can be to fast. And I can tell I have less pushing power with bigger diameter tires. I don't have a blower yet for the 318, but I have been keeping my eye out for one. I run chains on my other JD with the blower, but am hoping to have enough weight and traction with the 318 not to need them..we'll see how things pan out.

Which blower? Single stage or the 2 stage? I found I needed chains and weight here in Michigan. Have the (6)weights on the 3pt weight bar. Have tackled up to 6' drifts in the 30 years I had the equipment.

My 24x12x12's will run the 50" deck on the 318. It doesn't hurt anything, but they can touch.

That's the backup size I was looking at..if I can squeak an inch more, I will. Judging by the lack of info I'm finding on the 25's I'm not very optimistic. Hmm.

If they're truly an inch bigger than mine, there's no way there's an extra half inch to be had.

Mine show 24" true id, carlisles show 25.5" id, I highly doubt it could work with a deck.

justy37 do you also use chain's, if not how is the grip blowing snow. i have both blowers single, and two stage. i have wheel weights and two hitch weights. i need tire's but i will get them this spring, don't fell like fighting with the chains.

I use v-bar chains which are pretty thick. My driveway is about a 1/8 miles of gravel. So rubber tires by themselves don't do well. I have a set of atv tires, and they work. But in the wind hardened drifts, they pretty much just spin out, Or get stuck. I plow when I can, mainly because it's faster. But when it's to deep or the snow is like a rock, and can walk on top of it. Then I use the blower to clean it.

This are the Carlisle All Trails in 25x10.5 on a stock 318 rim. Unfortunately there is no deck in the picture, but I read that it will clear. Sure fills out the fender better..

I believe the fronts are the 18x6.5's too - these would even out the stance well and from what I can find, will not have clearance problems. I'm going to try and do a little more research today and see what I can find.
