How can I tell what type of transmisson I have on my '83 1966 Bolens? Looking at this chart http://tinyurl.com/ybd8awl there's two types possible, a Bolens or an Eaton Hydro.
Anyone have any problems using a substitute hydro fluid?. Type 'F' is getting hard to find.....Mike

Light hydraulic oil is fine.

check the link to an Eaton 11 manual - on about page 5 it shows where the mfgr's ID info and code is on the eaton 11 -

Thanks for the replies guys. After doing some research I've found out that one of the specs matches the THF we have at work so I can get it from the supplier at a good price. Petro Can Duratran XL.....Mike

I think what the link indicates is that it is a Bolens design case and gear set with a Eaton 11 hydro pump unit. 20w hydrolic oil is recommended with eaton 11 units.
