Hi bonus.........yes these are pretty good tractors. At 1999, these were Gardenway, which also owned Bolens at the time. Earlier years these LTX were labeled Bolens/Troy Bilt. I do think MTD was doing some of their manufacturing around this time.
If you look at the sticker you will see a model number other than LTX 16 like 13104, which is the LTX 15.5. There should be a sticker on the side of the console frame when you lift the hood........drivers left hand side. Off hand your might be a 13105 model. You will find that each manual covers several models for the year of offering. proving specs for each and the differences between. I think if you enter 13104 or 13105, this will get you very close to the year model you have. At least a start. This model number will get you all the manuals you need at MTD or Troy Bilt manuals. MTD has uploaded the manuals for most of the Troy Bilt Gardenway models that existed before MTD bought the name in the Bankruptcy.
Slight EDIT. looks like MTD and Troy Bilt not longer lists these manuals. I have no idea why they would spend the time loading them on their site and then taking them done. I did locate a manual for you here.

That manual is mislabeled its just a parts catalog. I will locate my manuals and upload them. This parts catalog will help you find parts on other models that will work on yours.
This line had all kinds of good stuff, options. Like electric lift, accessories like tillers, Vanguard Twins engines. Eaton Hydro's.
There were 3 decks that were offered in for these LTX models. A 38" rear discharge and a 42" and 48" side discharge models. All the accessories worked on the various LTX models, if the power or trans allowed it. Your bagger will work on the side discharge models. Did you get the "power packer plus" with the bagger as well. I have been search for the 38" deck just to do heavy grass to deposit it behind without the use of a bagger. But might be interesting to modify for a central rear bagger.
I do think MTD used this frame for a while........and some things like rear sleeve and the front bumper will work for them. Also the Ariens 36" dual stage snowblower actually mounts on very easily.
yeah these are plastic hoods, so like all plastic hoods.......care has to be taken. I will say removing and attaching can be a pain at first.......just big and bulky, and flexible........makes putting the last hood pivot pin in a PIA.
Good news.........many of these are always parted out..........so a ready supply of parts are available if needed.
