Hey I love mine twin 8163-B's

Once 82 and 83 met. The 2 have worked together no matter the season, no matter the weather.

83 is the better runner out of 2 and will stay till the job is done. 83's thread http://www.mytractorforum.com/24-gravely/282106-rider-2-8163-b-d.html :fing32:

82 is no slouch pulling the hard jobs. And being about the most beat tractor resurrected. It turned out darn nice considering :thThumbsU 82's thread http://www.mytractorforum.com/24-gravely/615313-8163-b-2-plus-score.html :fing32:

Would love to have an 810 myself :D

I'm a fan of the out front deck as well. My 8123 with the front mount PTO and the commercial 40 deck

Curious, why? Seems like the added weight on the front would be hard on the front end... similar to plow truck notorious have bad frames.
I run lift assist springs. Keeps some weight on the front for steering and makes the lift respond fast :D

But I run both styles of decks. No complaints on either style

Our 8162-T has had 1 bushing and pivot bolt in its 35 years. Keep them greased and they last a long time. I've had the Comm 40 on it for about a fifth of the time. Great for mowing under trees.

I also have the belly mower for this machine. I run various attachments on the 8123 and the front mount mower is easy to exchange for a rotary plow for instance in a heart beat.

I have owned this 8123 for maybe 7 or 8 years now and it either has a snow plow on the front or an attachment on the front. It steers like it has power steering with any attachment on it. With the engine in back, think of all of the weight that is not on the front axle to begin with.

And as Don stated, perfect for under tree's.

Well, i picked it up. Doesnt have the lifting arm. Everything else seem great. Tested it quick when i got home (it was late) and it did really well. I'll work it tomorrow. I think the front mower is going to grow on me.

The more I'm starring at that video of the front mount mower on one of these old Gravely's the more I kind've want one :1287: ..... just nothing like that ever comes up around here.

you're right newer mowers do turn tighter I went from using my craftsman lt1000 to an older sears difference was night and day.... not to mention all the 200 series I've collected each one is like turning a bus in comparison to the newer equipment. Just hard to beat that older quality and durability. :fing32:

Yeah, I finally found the part number after I posted... called Richards, they are looking to see if they have any around.

BUT

I just had a though. I have the lifting arm from my 44'' snow blower. What are the chances, that I can cut 1/2 a foot of the 'female' end of the tube, use it for the mower deck and just keep the 'spacer' to put back on when I need to use it on the blower? Would that work?

or is the 'male' end not big enough?
