Hi guys, narrowed down a sear locally and found this.

thoughts?

Craftsman gt5000 with plow

What should I look for and questions to ask PO. I am not a hack I can fix a lot of things just want to know the problem areas to make sure I look at them.

Price seem fair?

Price seems too low? The blade alone would be $150+ depending on condition. It also has a front bumper and "something" mounted behind. If the tractor runs ok, doesn't smoke, trans shifts and moves OK, I'd say leap on it. Doesn't give a year, but some Briggs had the bad air filter which sucked dust into the engine. I'd think they were all gone by now though.

Jump on it I have one and I really like it, I have a 54" deck and you can cover some ground with that. plus a 42 dual stage SB and a front dirt scoop that is handy. I paid $450 for mine no deck no SB or dirt scoop, mine is a 2004 looks the same but except mine has a 25 HP Kohler, very solid tractors.

It's a lot like mine, except I too have a Kohler engine. That's a six-speed tranny, which some folks prefer over the hydros. Remove the air cleaner and check the throat. Any dirt in there will be going straight into the carb and engine.

Deck needs a shield, which probably won't be cheap unless you can find a used one.

Hi yes Briggs had a poorly designed airfilter assy that let dirt into the engine, if the engine in that tractor isn't smoking changes are it has had the airfilter assy replaced.
