Now thats a good looking vette. I don't care for the way they have looked since they did away with that body style.

JDA, before I went to Saturn I worked at the Corvette plant in Bowling Green, KY. In retrospect, I wish I had never left. I thoroughly enjoyed being associated with the Corvette but at the time the plan was to either cease Corvette production or move it to Canada so I left and went to Saturn. Before I left I was working some with the Lotus engineers as their teardown and reassembly guy on the ZR1. Really enjoyed that but I couldn't understand the language those English guys were speaking. Well - they're getting better! Won't never match the 58 I used to have!
You had a 58 and got rid of it? Call the doctor ....this man ain't right! J/K

I personally would not have a vette except for the 63 split window and including the body style up to the '67.
I get a whole lot of fun out of my Chevelle SS.

Tell us a little about your Chevelle SS. When I was young a buddy of mine had one. It had a 396 with a Hurst 4 speed. It was a pretty quick car.
Randy, that's what I have in mine...although she's been "warmed up a bit" It originally came with 4/11 gears in the rear but I put 3/73's in cause I don't race it...I just cruise it. It is still very fast and equipped with the following:
10:1 high compression domed pistons, stainless steel valves, harlan sharpes roller rockers, can't remember the cam right now, Edelbrock aluminum intake, Holley 750 dual feed double pumper carb, (still get 18 m.p.g. when I cruise) Hooker Super Comp headers with 3' flowmaster exhaust. Lower rotating asembly was built by professionals at Dowker Engines and they told me with what I have done she would dyno at close to 450 h.p.

It's a far cry from my first 1969 though...I had a Mustang. My dad promised me that the first day it rained we would go get me a car (I was 18) it never rained that whole dammed summer...then finally one day he drove me to Yenneman-Dorch Ford in Green Bay Wisc. to get what I wanted. I fell in love with that 1969 Mustang with a 351 Windsor/ 4 spd. Car was burgundy with black hood scoop and some other accents....dammed thing looked FAST, but I got whooped up on real bad when I would race some of the guys. Guys wondered if it really had a V-8 in it or a 6 cylinder. Man that was embarrassing getting that kind of crap.

Like I said a far cry from my Chevelle SS....on a side note, I had the car in Super chevy magazine a few years back and have won about 8 trophys at some of the car shows I take her to.

Hope I didn't bore anyone with my ramblings on.

Yeah, I was young and stupid! Bought it in California in pieces (but all there) in 1984 for $1500. I sold it when I left the service in 1987 for $20,000, so I diddn't get hurt to bad! It wasn't 100% finished, but close. I put, probably, another $1500 into it. I also had a 1969 with a 427 in it while I was in the USMC. My nephew has it now. I know what you mean about Mustangs - I had a 1970 Boss 302 in high school.

Some how young & stupid just doesn't do it justice. When I was in High School I had a PINK '46 Ford PU. When the engine shot crapps the cheapest donor car that I could find was a '57 Vette. We yanked out the engine & trans and hauled the remains to the bone yard. In retrospect that wasn't a very bright thing to do. But hey, early Vettes at that time were considered turds and my '46 Ford was a classic. :fing32:

I later traded it for a Mini Cooper. Now that was a fun car. :bannana:

You are one of the very few people I have ever heard of to swap a GM into a Ford...it's usually the other way around.

Shoot we would swap any engine into almost anything. We managed to get a '56 322 Buick engine into an Austin Healy 100-4. and a 289 Ford into a '62 Jag XKE. The Buick swap was pretty dumb, but it fit. The 289 into the Jag was way too much work but at least the Jag was now reliable. By far the worst proposition that I had was a guy in Flagstaff, AZ wanted me to put a 250cid Chevy 6 into his '36 Bentley so he could drive it without having to overhaul it on the side of the road. I was more mature then and I just couldn't bring myself to committing that violation.

By far the best swap is a small block Chev into any chassis. :fing32:
