I have a like new four-year-old 5065E John Deere with only 200 hours. I bought it brand new at Limestone in Elizabethtown Ky. The starter solenoid is bad on it and I am unable to buy the solenoid alone. According to Limestone I must buy an entire starter for $448. That's a lot to pay when you only need a $50 solenoid. I know a lot of manufacturers are doing this, but it still stinks. The solenoid is all sealed up so you can't get inside it. I can bang on it with a hammer and it will work for a short time. Doug at Limestone was very nice about it and tried very hard, but was unable to get anything done. He had his mechanic to verify that it is in fact the solenoid. Frantesca at the national customer support was a joke, reading canned responses. Right now I'm buying a Mercedes/Bosch solenoid on ebay that looks close and has the correct measurements. I have a cheap generic China-made Jinma and I have been able to buy ANYTHING I need for it at a reasonable price. I don't think I would buy another green one.
