The deck on my 425 blows debris all over the place on the left side of the tractor that gets sucked up in the screens on the left side and under the steering wheel and also builds up on the floor board, mower deck and me. The problem does not exist on the right side of the tractor only the left. The debris blows out in front of the deck up into the air and then I drive into the debris as I'm mowing.

I've cleaned out the underside of the deck and it doesn't make any difference. The blades are in good shape but are a moderate lift. Would a high lift blade make a difference? Is anyone else having this issue? If so and you've fixed it, what did you do to resolve the issue?

Anti blowout kit.Had the same problem on my 62" deck.

Okay, what's an anti blowout kit? Something offered by Deere?

Yep. It's a couple pieces of metal that make the front edge of the deck deeper/lower and is some spots wider. Some people make their own from wood, metal, baler belt, etc... Just curious, is the deck leveled per the manual. I've heard if the front is too high/low that it can kick stuff out, but I've never seen it that extreme.

My 455 does that as well, but on BOTH sides.....very intrigued by this anti-blowout kit. I always assumed it was due to the dry Oklahoma grass, since it's not been as bad this year(end of July, and the grass isn't crispy=reasonably rainy summer!).

Make sure that your deck height is adjusted correctly....lower the front 1/8" lower than the back....accordingly this creates a vacumm affect to draw the grass up and out the chute...

I always thought that the front should be higher and suffered the same "crap" as you did....

...worked for me but my grass / terrain is different...

My thoughts are the deck leveling also,i think the deck is higher in the front making the blades cut on the back side and blowing grass out the front, the deck set in the right way would make the blades cut in the front and and the back just creating air.1/8 to 1/4 lower in the front and level from side to side, proper air in all tires.

My 455 is doing the same and starts to over hear after about 3 hours of mowing I try to wipe the screen clean while mowing but 2-3 passes later they r back to the same. I'm going to make sure it's level and if that don't work build my something out of baler belting

Biker I noticed ur for Paris tx that's not to far from me I'm just north of Waco in Aquilla just west of west lol

Had the same problem last year with my 425, so I bought the anti blowout pieces for the deck and problem solved. Just look at the parts diagram for your deck and you will see 2 flat pieces that bolt to the underside of the deck. I think I spent around $50.

I'll second this recommendation. I've adjusted every single tractor/mower I own and have owned like this with fantastic results. Actually learned it on hear many years ago with my brand new Ingersoll. A member's comment lead me to investigate and found exactly what was described. Lower in back than front, WRONG!
No need for a blowout kit (unless bagging) if slightly tipped lower in front. Just my opionion from personal experience with many different manufactures.

Well had my deck set the way its supposed to and still had a problem till I put the blowout kit on.

I too always wondered why the 54 deck on my 425 makes such a mess with or without the front guards while the 54 deck on my 345 stays clean. Both deck's are identical housings same blades on both, the only difference being one is belt driven(345) while the other is shaft driven and the mounting points are different.

Understoood, but some manufacturers (Simplicity - Snapper) advise to have front higher than rear now. Many new mowers come this way and IMO is incorrect.
Is yours lower in front? How much, when measured at blade?

May be a characteristic of JD decks. My Brother has a late model x540 with 54" deck and it's not covered with clippings. I have no idea how his is set.:dunno:

All the tractors listed has worked for me once tilted forward:
Simplicity Conquest with 50" deck (came from dealer opposit)
Ingersoll 4023 with 48" deck (came from dealer opposit)
(2) Snapper 28" hi vac RER mower (both bought used like new-never adjusted from dealer but opposit)
Wheel Horse 314-8 with 48" deck (came correct)
Wheel Horse 312-8 and 310-8 with 42" deck both side and rear disharge. (came correct)
I did add a front lip baffle to 42" side discharge WH so I'd get better suction when using the peco vac. Made a huge difference!

I tried fixing mine yesterday it is 1" lower in front with the deck all the way up it's at 3"5/8 at the rear blade tip front is at 2 5/8" at tip of blade for some weird reason my adjustment nuts on the front r really hard to turn! Going to work on it more this weekend

1 inch is too much, try for 1/8-1/4 lower in front.

When y'all get theses measurements is it with the deck all the way up r down like where you will actually be mowing with it r does it matter?

My 425 does the same thing, I am going to re-level the deck and see what happens but I also have pieces that were bolted to the front lip of the deck, I will put them back on and see if it makes a difference, they were pretty banged up when I got the mower. I straightened them but never put them back on.
