Hello all, new to the membership side of the forum, although you've helped me hundreds of times so far, and thanks for that.

It all started a few months ago when i was working on a friends cub cadet. Ive got an extensive background with these things, briggs mst, kohler master, kawasaki certs, etc, etc. Anyway i loved it and started shopping..

That brings us to now.... upon endless hours of searching it came down to a jd317 with front hydros and snow blower, but it had the series 1 kohler..... or a mysterious 3000 series on cl. I drove two hours one way to buy this little guy, and in about 20 min had it running and driving like a top. now the only problem is im a little overbearing and want to restore it, and use it.. sounds like a good problem right? Well the bad thing is all the model #s were killed off by the pressure washer. So tech service at cub determined this is a 14a-671-710.... and i dont think they actually know what it is but thats easier than admitting your wrong, so here i am.

What i do know:

ch20s kohler
power steering
diff lock
hydro drive
tilt wheel
says 3000 series on the back.

now i just need to know _____- _____-______

and a little information on interchangeability for the side panels, decks attachments, etc.
And if anyone close to indiana has parts for this monster.

Thanks

It's a 3206. That's a nasty dent in the fender, but nothing a good body guy can't hide. Keep us posted on your progress.

wingman - not to rain on yer parade, but get yer towel: them power washers is mighty handy for a bunch of tuff cleanup jobs but don't use 'em on a powered piece of L&G eqpt. The electrical systems, the hydro system, and even portions of the engine system are NOT designed/mfgd to withstand the invasive pressure/scouring/corrosion initiation generated by those washers.
While no immediate problems may be seen, expect electrical gremlins to arrive along with a few hydro and mebbe even some engine friends depending just on where that hose stream wand was wandering

RCBE i know exactly what you mean, at the dealer i worked for, the pressure washer was a standard thing, still burns me to this day, it got to the point where the only thing id wash even on the commercial ztrs, was the deck, everything else got wiped down with wd40 and a towel. nothing worse than rebuilding a $1900 engine and have it running like a champ then wash it and have to run back through and clean and grease all the connections to get back to running again.

As for the pressure washer, that one wasn't me, the guy i bought it off of i found on Cl in norther Indiana, decided to clean it up before i got there, very thought full, but a little irritating, i looked through his yard for about 20 min to see if i couldn't find the tags, i did find the 48" deck sticker, but nothing else. it kills me with the prices of some of these pieces of equipment the mfg. couldn't spend the extra $1.00 to have the model # engraved, but whats done is done.
Considering i picked it up for $200 i cant complain, well i could but nobody would listen.

South side of indianapolis jd. I've found tons of info and I've got a background in fixing these things just not too many cubs. Mechanically it's good to go with the exception of blades and deck bearings, and a few odds and ends, in the process of repainting deck new bearings idlers blades etc, then it's on to fixing the fenders, hood side panels lights etc. I've learned on previous restorations that the second i start using it I'll never finish so for now the '67 snapper comet I redid last winter is still cutting the grass

Common issues are leaks from the spool valves and mistreated diff locks. Eventually the gerotor will fail. Everyone has replaced that once. Obviously engine and deck issues are the same as any other mower. The only other 3000-specific thing is that there are lots of grease zerks that have probably been neglected. Hit all those.
