Looks GREAT!!!!!!!!

I see you also have a 3 point hitch on the rear of that tractor - very nice! Me thinks your next step is a set of ag tires and a moldboard plow!
I plan to join up with the Western PA plow group eventually :fing32: But, I need to go over the hydro controls, and make the trunion repair. Also, I have a crank seal to deal with before I would subject the 1450 to any serious ground engagement activity. New ag tires in 10.5 size should cost a penny, and my front rims are worn out. A used Brinly 10" plow is about $150.00. Its going to be at least until next year or so until I have it in ship-shape.

I really appreciate my all-gear narrow frame 72. But, once I complete the list of items on my 1450, I'll have a great garden tractor to enjoy a plow day event with, and meet some new garden tractor folks :fing32:

:thanku:

I have an extra float pin I can send you, if you need it. I sold my 1450 last summer and this was the only part left behind.
I don't have a float pin, and could probably use one :thThumbsU

Send me a PM, with any required information!

Thanks

Well, yesterday I got into the 1450 again. I wanted to clean the hydro pump, and the rest of the tractor. The whole time from take down to assembly took nearly all of my day, but it was worth it.

I started by removing the fender pan, and tunnel cover. The tractor frame and drive unit is what I wanted to have clean and inspect the external brakes and controls.

Here is an idea of how dirty the tractor had become over the years, and the right side brake disassembled.

Here are a few pictures of the cleaned up tractor. :fing32:

I was very interested in knowing what condition the trunion was in. It looks like somebody had done a new, and nice repair on it! However, I don't know what the pin is for. Once I understand the hydro system more, I'll know. However, the tractor moves and operates great, and I'm not complaining!

Then I wanted to know where to look for any HyTran fluid leaks. I thought I had a small leak.........................
Went over to http://www.ihcubcadet.com and went directly to Charlie's FAQs, scrolled down to # 33a, and 33b for a very excellent wright up on what I wanted. There are 5 places on a International 1450 Cub Cadet to check for hydro leaks. Here are those places:

I did not get a good inspection to see if any of the hydro lift lines and components were leaking. The suction tube did not leak, or the carrier seals. I don't think there is much, if any of a leak! This has turned out to be a great garden tractor. Here is a short video of a test to identify any heavy oil leaks.

All back together again!

When I checked the paper towels I had left under the 1450 over night this morning, there were zero leaks.

:thThumbsU

I got a good deal from Scott on this 1450! :Orange_tr

edit: I found out the big rattle in this Quiet Line,.... its directly from the hood hinge. Maybe I can repair it until I get a new one.

Thanks for the video update:howdy:

:thanku: JRC! Yes, Remember our fallen troops, and those who are serving in the United States Armed Forces. Thank you JRC, for your service as well!

I have 5 family members who served in WW2 and Korea, most have passed away now. Went garage sale'ing yesterday....got a book on WW2 for 2 bucks. These pictures don't hold back, as you see Germans marching past a long convoy of destroyed Allied equipment, stuff I have never seen on the internet I have in many books.

I hope Obama drags those weasels out of their hole by their throats who are responsible for the Vet/hospital scandal.

Back to topic, I'm figuring on posting a "go-over" video on this 1450 IH Cub Cadet. Incase you were wondering what the "WP" monogram was on the cap screws of the Quiet Lines, that stands for: West Pullman plant in Illinois, where IH made their hardware. IH went to this trademark because they were selling more hardware to other manufactures. At least that is how I came to understand that!

Have a safe Memorial Day Holiday!

After driving the tractor more, this morning I noticed where the leak is coming from: the cork gasket area. However, the leak is very slight at this point. The 4 seals on the transmission/pump are in good working order, the suction tube is tight on both ends, no leaks from the filter, and no leaks from the hydraulic lift components,.... and that's a plus :fing32:.

So at this point, I have a slight engine oil leak, and this transmission/pump combo leak. That's not a bad gig. I'll attend to those later this year....... until then, too many projects for the house and garden this year!

Had the 1450 out today, and it ran great! Last week I refurbished my IH #2 Garden Cart, so it was ready for today. I filled it up with 55 gallons of water

Your projects are always fun to follow. You detail every move so the rest of us can learn:fing32:I good quiet line is on my list if its plow ready. It seems CC and IH CC are easier to find in your area?I also would like a 100 with fenders and a 169.

I planned to put the sickle on the 123 this weekend but that is not looking likely:dunno:

JRC IOWA- Well, the International Harvester Cub Cadets are found in Ohio, P.A, IN, and Ill. I think these are the hot-spot states { Great Lakes Region }. You find them near the North Atlantic coast too.

But, believe it or not, these garden tractors are becoming sought after. I have saved a few from the scrap yard, and will continue to. I'm more of a parts collector, though my stash is about out {hehe!} .

Thank you, I enjoy documenting what I do to my 1450 and 72. I got a lot to tinker with on these tractors. I'm a reader of Cadet Connection Magazine { http://www.cadetconnection.com } . In the last issue, Spring 2014, on pages 20-22 is a nice article written about improving the performance of the IH 44" and 50" mower decks- really cool stuff!

For my International 1450 Cub Cadet, I want to "soup" up my IH 50" deck, and paint it before I eventually get to the tractor itself. So, the next 1450 projects will be this, the cork gasket replacement, and the crank seals when they get worse. Though, house projects, work, gardening/canning, usually take up a good portion of time :hide:

I decided to make a short video this morning on the 1450. It was a nice morning. Now, where you will see where I place the sponge rubber/foam, that there is a natural gap between the lower corners of the nose cone, and the top corners of the cast iron grill.....which I did not get a picture of.

The goal was to show the IH Quiet Line owners a solution that really works. I needed to tighten up the hood hinge, and after a couple days, this is how I did it. Use small, thin pieces because you could damage, or throw the hood lines and panel lines out of alignment, and over tighten the hinge. The improvement is night and day difference in the worn hood hinge.

Here is the video:

thanks for watching

So this morning I shined up the 1450. I then wanted to see what I could do about the rust covered rim on the right- front of the tractor. I tried this rust stain remover:

The two sides:

Looks much better :thThumbsU

Unitll I get the front rims painted, this suits me just fine. I did wipe down with WD-40 to prevent the rust from reoccurring. Nice day out today :fing32:

:howdy:
Thanks for the video :fing32:I had planned to ask about your garden. My favorites from the garden is sweet corn, tomatos, peas and potatos :fing32:
That rust stuff seemed to work really good were did you get that?
I have never spent much time in trying to figure out those hour meters. But what the heck are those all about?:sidelaugh

JRC IOWA- I hope my Cub Cadet video producing skills improve,...as I plan to update with video as well, lol ! The hour meter works great! Though it has become difficult to see anywhere but in direct sunlight because the clear lens had turned foggy, or yellowed. But it works, and I have knowledge how to read it. I think the hour meters are neat, and I can keep track of my run time { which I should do } regardless if the actual reading is true. If the key got left in the "on" position, then the actual hours run would be false. I'm not really that much on a slow side :sidelaugh

I garden every year, for about 7-8 years now. Yup, tomatoes, onions, 2-3 different peppers, Pontiac Red spuds. I did not get any peas in this year or garlic, or sweet corn. But next year I will. I also make grape juice! I had a go-around with my tiller, which is down in the tiller talk forum. Its all part of gardening! :tee: I love to garden, and have plans to improve in the way it is done!

Oh, got the rust stain remover at the local discount store for $1.59 . It works really well, and is not as volatile as the toilet bowl cleaners! This Rust Stain Remover is like a water, and I used the pictured tools and scrubbed clean. Where ever the remover had removed rust, bare metal results....... however, I plan to paint the front rims later this fall :Orange_tr

Eventually, I'll have the 1450 up to par. Here it is all cleaned up. I used some black shoe polish on the tires, and was completely amazed how they turned out.

Have a good one!

:thanku:
