HI ALL,
Heres the post and the project ive been anxious to start for months now.If any of you ever went to the other tractor site[which i dont visit anymore],youll know ive been planning and hemming and hawing for months.Since its a custom cab to fit my tractor,i decided to post here..All you BX owners can compare yours and throw ideas at me along the way.
Alittle background first for a few years now ,ive had a sweet little fiberglass golf cart roof on,and i really like it.It doesnt rattle, rust, and is very tough. It fits very well, and ive even cut the back slightly,so i can fold down the rops.Ive decided where that it has worked so well, and is so light i will use it as the roof top on my new cab project. That is a pic of it in my avatar. It keeps me very dry on the rainiest of days, however when using my hoe my legs get wet.Iplan on adding a small extention to the rear to take care of that.
The reason i want a cab is i plan on using my front 3 point plow in my bucket,in conjunction with a new 5 ft blower on the rear next winter.Icould settle for a simple golf cart enclosure or something simpler ,but what the heck,it ought to be a good winter project.Im planning on removeable doors, and the rear window and panel removeable[has to be to run hoe],so i can keep it on year round.Im planning on glass windsheild and wiper, and a homemade heater system run from the engin.Im hoping a rear defroster strip will keep the rear glass from icing ,it also will be sheltered with the roof above.
My thoughts on a cab are that it should be strong[to withstand a roll over] yet light weight to keep the tractor from being top heavy. This is again why i chose the fiber glass roof, over a peice of flat iron.
Ill add to my post as i go,mabey you can chime in along the way.Again i posted here to get input from other bx owners, where that it might not get seen it the build it yourself forum
