At the moment I don't know what is going to happen. The shipping company is supposed to do something soon. In the past I have found places where they would sell stuff the shipping company had lost or damaged. There is no telling how much it will be priced at if they sell it. The cost to repair it at a repair shop will not be cheap. Then there are all those metal fragments all over it. Who knows how long it will run if a piece of metal winds up in the combustion chamber. :fing20: :dunno:

Hopefully I'll know something by tomorrow. I can't believe it showed up at its destination in a cardboard box after I bolted it down in a wood crate with 1/2" thick plywood. Not one piece of wood showed up with it. The guy who did it must be hiding somewhere. :hide:

What shipping company was it? My buddy had his generator attachment show up with the housing knocked loose & wires pinched inside.. that was FEDEX.

If you had it bolted to a skid/crate, I'm betting the forklift operator fokred it, then pulled it off and put in box to make it look like it was your packaging fault, not his operator error.
My nephew works for UPS, used to throw boxes on sorting line. He told me their sorting fingers and conveyors tore boxes up all the time, but then they blamed the shipper for poor packaging. It's a racket!
Sure hope you come out positive Plow. I ship UPS everyday through work, they are a pain to get refunded even if they admit it's their fault.

So far I cannot get anyone to admit what actually happened to my wooden crate. The person who bought it must want to keep it because it had not been picked up after several failed attempts. I am just trying to figure out what to do to keep them satisfied.

Years ago I purchased something on eBay and it arrived in a squished and broken box. UPS didn't offer to pay a claim because they blamed it on the shipper like you said earlier.

That's a shame that the engine got damaged due to incompetence of a worker not doing his job correctly, or worse, not caring about damaging some one else's property

I didn't want to do him dirty. He paid his money and both of us were victims of a mishap at UPS. I paid out of my pocket to buy him a new head and it should be shipped to his door soon unless they destroy it also. The Tecumseh OH160 heads are really expensive. UPS said I should hear back from them soon and hopefully they will pay the declared value on the damage claim I filed. The snow season is on the way and having a piece of equipment ready can make all the difference in the world. At least he was willing to work out a solution where he would accept a repair. Can you imagine having a hard to find engine get bashed in shipping and not being able to find another replacement. The last NOS OH160 I found had already sold so I couldn't send it to him either.

Not to mention if there is any other damage hidden underneath things. The muffler and pipe were dinged also. Then there is the labor cost to remove and replace all the other stuff. Wonder what it will cost?

Not asking what anyone paid here but i found one of these for sale in nice condition, original paint and am wondering what an average value for a working one might be. They look pretty neat.

I was told there were only six of them made and sold by Sears. Most of them I have found have had high prices. I think the flail mower in WI was on CL and the following ad is it.
