Hey guys, I'm in the process of restoring my 1988/89 John Deere 318, and I was wondering where exactly I look to identify the exact engine I have in there. I would like to order the full gasket set from onan parts. Also, I was wondering what your thoughts are on my compression test, 93psi in one cylinder and 101psi in the other. Is that a big enough difference I should worry?

Ther should be a tag on the flywheel tin with the infotmation but if theres not one..if yours has points it is a B43 if it does not have points it is a P218.90 lbs is about min compression to run good so the difference there is not large enough at this point to matter much.If you are getting gaskets and new rings and have it back to 100%

You will have to take out the pistons before ordering rings, there are 2 different thicknesses on them, same bore size
