Just bought a used bx2660.
Everything is great except ...

Forward works fine.
Reverse is intermittently jerky when releasing the reverse pedal.
Sometimes it stops okay.
Other times , it slows down okay, but just when ready to stop, it jerks to a halt.
Also, at times it will slow down very quickly and jerk to a halt.

Did some research before buying and thought this problem was fixed on the bx**60 series.

changed the trans fluid and filter and cleaned the strainer.
greased the pedal fitting and tried adjusting the neutral return spring.
no help
I also moved the speed foot pedals forward and reverse with the tractor off and nothing seems to be binding. Both forward and reverse return fine with tractor off.

Could it be the HST damper?

I have run out of ideas

Anybody help???

thanks

Just came back to this site after a while being gone. I had a BX1850 and it had problems. I traded for a BX2660 and just can't say enough about it. No problems at all. I can't help you but maybe advise you to talk to a dealer about yours.

Since it is happens intermittently, and based on my own experience, I would say it is normal. I have found that the faster you go in reverse, the faster it stops. Also, when backing down a hill it will stop faster than it would on level ground.

When you back up slowly does it roll for a bit when you release the pedal or does it stop immediately? If it rolls then I would say it is behaving normally. You can adapt to it and learn to feather the pedal when stopping in reverse.

I've got a BX2230, and mine has an adjustment for that. I'll bet yours does too.
I'd call a dealer and ask to speak to a mechanic and ask him or her.

My 2660 started doing that not long after I received it. Only, mine does it in forward as well as reverse. I called the dealer (Barlow, 200 miles away) and they told me what to do. I am mechanically inclined having tinkered with cars and motorcycles for years, but I had NO clue what they were talking about. :(
So it is still doing it.
Local dealer mechanics have less clue than I do about it. Go figure.
