It started this morning in the rain to go up the Heath Texas, east of Dallas to pick up my 1928 Chevrolet LP 1-Ton Capital Truck. I actually drove the whole way up there on IH35 something I have not done since 1987.

The interstate was in bad shape and people were not minding their manners while driving down the road. :Stop:

I made it to Heath in one piece and loaded to the truck and broke my wench at the same time; we go it on the trailer using my chain hoist and I am going to feel that tomorrow.

I decided I had enough of Dallas Traffic and decided to cut across IH20 to Highway 67 to Glen Rose Texas to get back home. All the bikers going to the http://www.rotrally.com/ in Austin chose route also.

Bikers like old trucks when I stop at a "Roadside Rest-stop" south of Glenn Rose were I took the picture of the view and how weighted down my truck was; a biker club (they don't like to be called gang) pulled in behind me.

You know what bikers do at these stops????????

They refresh their sunscreen and passing the bottle to eachother.

The bikers didn't let me take their picture; they were probably bank president playing weekend radicals.

The truck came with extra parts lie and short block, 2 transmissions, doors, hood, rims, etc.

The left front fender is in bad shape but the rest is good. Lots of wood work.

I got it home by going through Hico Texas to get on US281 to Lampasas to 183 to Liberty Hill. I got it home in one piece love being on the road for 8 hours.

Jodyann and DYT4000 this should be another great project I don't complete :fing32:

It pulled great, there was a lot of weight in the back also. Once you get 30 miles outside of D
Dallas the road are in great shape.

My MPG was 15.98 miles per gallon with the AC on Heck it was 94Âş

Its weird going thur Hamilton Texas, having their Fire Department checking the truck outr at a intersection. Things got real strange when I go to the town square there was a VFD catfish fry and onion rings plus massage chairs targeting the biker that were passing through.

aluminum block? wood cab?

looks like yer rear wheels on the trailer were not necessary! LOL
I need the rear wheels; another 200 lbs the hitch would be scrapping the ground.

The short block weighed in at 475 lbs. without the head; in 1928 Aluminum was selling for $42 per pound if the block weighed 300 lbs it would have cost $12600 to produce for a truck the sold for around $1200.

Chevorlet first production of an Aluminum block was the L88 that was produced in 1969.

The Chevrolet 171 engine was Chevy first engine; it was built from 1913 to 1928 it was a 4 cylinder engine that came in two models 4:1 compression ratio and 4.5:1 compression that required ethyl grade gasoline. The Chevy 171 engine produced a 22.5 horsepower that is an efficiency of .132 hp per cubic inch; compare to the stock (2004) V-8 Chevrolet LS1 5.7L 320 horsepower that is an efficiency of 1.10 hp per cubic inch. Or 2004 Chevy engines produce 8.33 times more horsepower per cubic inch than the Chevy engines of the 1920’s.
