I got these 2 tractors for free almost a year ago. The guy had promised one engine to a friend so I took it off for him. Of course, he wanted the better of the 2. Now that I have the money and am project free, it's time to start a new project!
I've never been a fan of the silver and black Sears tractors so I will be painting it yellow and white and renaming it an 18/6. I will take parts from each one to make one great tractor.
Here's what i'm dealing with:
The deck hangers are bent on this one so they will be switched.
Nose cone is destroyed but the lower grill is perfect.
Nose cone looks salvageable but the lower grill is broken.
I got them torn down pretty good. I will be using this frame since the dash is in good condition. One minor crack and some JB weld around the choke. It should sand down good enough.
May use the front axle off this one. The spindles seem tighter and easier to roll.
The bearings in the deck groan pretty loud but they may just need some grease. What do you guys think? I'd like to use it as just a bush hogging deck.
