plowing snow last couple days made me realize how tired my engine is. My grandpa overhauled it 40 plus years ago and its go a fair amount of blow by on hard pull. ive got a set of new sleeves and pistons and gasket set just need bearings. what i would like to know is there any simple power add ons that i can do at the same time like different cylinder head intake etc. I dont want huge power to add risk to trans and rearend

The non heated (three rib) manifold from a 240/340/404 will also help along with the head. Also, get a 340 camshaft.

The only way IH upped power on these engines (200, Super C and down) was just cubes (113 vs. 123), compression and RPM's. Once you get higher up in the years (140/240) and also 340 you get better head ports, intake and exhaust, and cam for more power.

Your engine block will likely take the larger OD sleeves (3-7/16), so 3.25" bore sleeves and pistons will get you to 134 cubic inches (The C-135 is a different engine with .062" longer stroke).

Once you reach this point, you will find you will have bad traction problems before you have low engine power problems! 134 cubes in a C/Super C/200 will overpower the tires pretty easily, even with weights.

? Should be a C-135, same engine also as the 404 and 2404?

No, the crank from a C-135 will not "drop in" (but it can be machined) to fit in a C-113 or C-123 block, I don't recommend that. For the $$$ it is not cost effective, it would be easier and better to just swap in a C-135 entire engine from a 404 or something similar.

The H was a C-152 engine. Very, very different than the C-135.

"The Farmall 404 replaced the Farmall 240. The C-135 engine from the larger Farmall 340 replaced the C-123 of the 240. The power output increased from 31 pto hp on the 240 to 37 pto hp on the 404, slightly more than for the old, heavier, 340."
