It looks like it should replace the ignitor module on Kawasaki motors BUT they show a set of points and I dont know of a Kawsaki motor that uses points (or any later motor for that point).I Google it and it does look as to replace the module but I don't know IF the 265 uses it,I know the single cylinder does use the ignitor.

Those Ignitor Modules are about 3 times that price also, might be something to consider if I can't get a good spark.

I kooked at the 265 and it is single cylinder so it will probanly work wired in like the diagram shows, the module is on the right had side of the motor and is about 1 inch square and aluminum. It is a LOT cheaper than original.I googled that part number and a lot of people carry it for different prices other than Ebay

Thanks for looking it up, I get the mower delivered on Sunday. Right now it won't start. I plan on emptying gas tank first and using air compresssor and hooking it to the fuel line before the filter and blowing it back into the tank to make sure that is clear first.

Refill with new gas and then seeing if it will start. Then check the carburetor, to make sure it is getting gas through the fuel pump.

After that and if still doesn't start is it best to change the igintion coil first or just get the module above and try that first before buying the coil?

That is the ignitor, never seen one that cheap, must be after market.I try the easy things firsr, the coil is not easy but the ignitor is so for that price I would buy it an try it first, these things WILL go out so at least you would have a new one.If it does not fire the plug the all the other stuff won't help, try the plug FIRST to see if it fires.

I recommend OEM parts...

Anyone know the exact part number need for the John Deere 265 igintion coil? .engine Kawasaki FC540V

M&Dmowerparts.com has the Rotary replacement module for the Kawasaki for $20.95. The guys in the walkbehind section have used them with good success. Don't know if it will work with the 540v, but it might be worth a call. Thanks, G-man
